  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Remains out of lineup

Story (heel) isn't starting Wednesday against the Reds, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Story is out of the lineup for a seventh consecutive game due to a heel issue, and it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to the field. Enrique Hernandez will take his place at second base and bat ninth.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Gets breather Wednesday

Mateo isn't starting Wednesday against the Tigers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mateo started the last three games and went 1-for-10 with a double, an RBI and two strikeouts. Gunnar Henderson will take over at shortstop and bat third.

  • Nick Allen SS | HOU

Athletics' Nick Allen: On base thrice in win

Allen went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run in a win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Allen was busy on the basepaths throughout the night with his latest encouraging offensive performance. The 23-year-old has now hit safely in four straight -- and eight out of his last nine games overall -- cobbling together a .324 average and .367 on-base percentage over the latter stretch. With the Athletics closing the book on a non-contending season, Allen should continue benefitting from plenty of reps against big-league arms the rest of the way through an everyday role at shortstop.

  • Rays' Wander Franco: Reaches base four times

Franco went 2-for-2 with a double and two walks Tuesday against the Astros.

Franco had two of the Rays' three hits on the night, highlighted by a double in the sixth inning. He's in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak, though he's produced only two RBI and one run scored in that span. Franco has had a disappointing season, as he has just a .125 ISO with five home runs and five stolen bases across 295 plate appearances.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

    Astros' Jeremy Pena: Power returning

Pena went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk Tuesday against the Rays.

Pena took Shane McClanahan deep in the third inning to account for the majority of Houston's offense and his 19th homer of the season. He hit only one home run in a 38-game stretch between July 27 and Aug. 19, but since Sept. 9 Pena has now slugged three long balls with seven RBI and 10 runs scored across 11 starts. For the season, Pena has maintained a .249/.288/.411 line across 514 plate appearances.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Three hits, two RBI in loss

Correa went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Royals.

Correa drove in a pair of runs with a second-inning single. That hit put the Twins ahead 3-0, but the Royals' offense was a bit stronger over the rest of the game. Over his last 17 games, Correa has been on a tear, going 29-for-72 (.403) with 10 extra-base hits, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored. The shortstop's surge has lifted his season slash line to .288/365/.467 with 21 home runs, 60 RBI, 66 runs scored, 20 doubles and a triple through 124 contests.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Could return this week

Anderson (hand) could return to the White Sox's lineup sometime this week, Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.

With the minor-league season coming to a close in the coming days, a rehab assignment doesn't make much sense for Anderson, so he might make a direct return to action at the big-league level despite missing six weeks already. In the meantime, Elvis Andrus will continue manning shortstop.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Still not ready for rehab stint

Anderson (hand) is not yet ready to begin a rehab assignment, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The White Sox were hoping to get Anderson back this week, and there is still a chance that could happen. However, with him already missing six weeks and not yet ready for game action, the likelihood of that occurring is lessening.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Takes seat again Tuesday

Story (heel) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Story ran Sunday and had an extra day to rest with the Red Sox off Monday, but he is still not ready to return to action. Story was close to getting back on the field last week, but as things stand, it's unclear when he will be cleared to do so.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Laces third triple Monday

Crawford went 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk and two runs in a win over the Angels on Monday.

Crawford belted his third triple of the season in the third inning -- ironically the only time he reached base that he didn't come around to score. The veteran shortstop has been getting particularly good wood on the ball of late, as he's now sporting a .290 average and .984 OPS over the last 10 games thanks in part to the fact he's laced five of his nine hits during that span for extra bases.
