  • Yu Chang SS | TB

Indians' Yu Chang: Bashes fifth homer

Chang went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Rangers.

He launched one of Cleveland's three solo shots off Jake Latz in the Texas southpaw's big-league debut. Chang has started seven of 11 games since being recalled Aug. 12 and has thrived with the semi-regular playing time, slashing .308/.357/.808 with three of his five homers on the season.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: No hits in return

Anderson (leg) went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to Toronto.

After a four-game absence with leg soreness, the shortstop was unable to make much of an impact in his return. Anderson was red-hot before sitting out, going 19-for-49 (.388) across the previous 10 games, so he should be able to get the bat going again in the near future. He has a .300/.328/.456 slash line with 14 home runs, 17 stolen bases, 51 RBI and 78 runs scored through 470 plate appearances overall.

  • Yankees' Andrew Velazquez: Racking up steals

Velazquez went 1-for-4 with a run and a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-4 victory over Atlanta.

Velazquez also struck out three times in the contest, but his fifth-inning single extended his on-base streak to six games. Over that stretch, he is slashing .318/.348/.591 with a home run, four RBI and three steals. Velazquez swiped 26 bags in 29 attempts with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, so he has some value in fantasy leagues, though he is likely to fade into a reserve role once Gio Urshela (hamstring) and Gleyber Torres (thumb) return to action.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

    Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Sits Wednesday

Mateo (back/hip) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Mateo will head to the bench after lower-back and hip soreness knocked him out of Tuesday's 14-8 loss. Before departing, Mateo was in the midst of another nice day at the dish, as he went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles and a walk. Ramon Urias and Jahmai Jones will pick up starts at shortstop and second base, respectively, while Mateo sits.

  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Indians' Brayan Rocchio: On hot streak in Double-A

Rocchio has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games for Double-A Akron, posting a .315/.373/.611 line with four homers and two steals in that stretch.

The last time we checked in with Rocchio, he was off to a slow start following his promotion to Double-A, but he's almost completely erased those bad memories. The 20-year-old shortstop's batting line with Akron now sits at a solid .262/.347/.488, and if he finishes strong, he'll have a solid case to open 2022 in Triple-A.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Returns to lineup

Anderson (leg) is starting Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

Anderson missed the last four games due to leg soreness but will start at shortstop and lead off Wednesday. The 28-year-old has recorded hits in each of his last 10 appearances, and he hit .388 with four homers, a triple, two doubles, 12 runs and 10 RBI during that time.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Astros' Aledmys Diaz: Utility role beckons

Diaz is expected to move into a utility role for the Astros moving forward after Alex Bregman (hamstring/quadriceps) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Diaz has been a credible performer while filling in at third base for Bregman over the past month, hitting .337 with four home runs, 19 RBI and 11 runs in 24 games. According to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com, Diaz will stick in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Royals as Houston's starting left fielder, but that's only because Michael Brantley is getting some routine maintenance for the day game after a night game. Expect Diaz to pick up a handful of starts per week now that Bregman is back in the fold.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Astros' Carlos Correa: Drives in two

Correa went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two RBI in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Royals.

Correa gave the Astros an early 1-0 lead with an RBI groundout in the first inning, then drove in the game's final run on an RBI double in the third. The shortstop has been locked in at the plate of late, batting .351 with a 6:4 BB:K in his last 10 games.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Expected back Wednesday

Anderson (leg) is expected to return to the lineup and bat leadoff Wednesday, Jordan Horrobin of MLB.com reports.

Anderson sat for a fourth straight game Tuesday, as the White Sox exercise caution with an eye toward the long game (i.e. the postseason). Danny Mendick has filled in at shortstop while Anderson has been unavailable.

  • Yu Chang SS | TB

Indians' Yu Chang: Smacks fourth homer

Chang went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Rangers.

Chang led off the bottom of the fifth inning with his fourth home run of the season. While his season-long line is not impressive, Chang has six hits in 22 at-bats since being recalled Aug. 13. Four of those knocks have gone for extra bases. Even given his recent form, Chang could run out of regular playing time soon, as Bobby Bradley (knee) began a rehab assignment Tuesday.
