Blaze Alexander 3B | BAL
Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Cracks first homer
Alexander started at second base and went 1-for-2 with a walk and solo home run in Wednesday's 6-5 extra-innings loss to the Yankees.
Alexander got the start against a lefty -- no surprise there -- and gave the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead in the second inning with his first MLB homer. The right-handed hitting infielder was later removed in the ninth inning for pinch-hitter Jace Peterson against a righty reliever. Alexander could be needed in the coming days, as shortstop Geraldo Perdomo sustained a knee injury during the 10th inning and is day-to-day. The Diamondbacks are off Thursday and will travel to Atlanta for a weekend series. Right-hander Spencer Strider is the scheduled starter for Atlanta, which means if Perdomo isn't ready, then Arizona manager Torey Lovullo may turn to Peterson for a start.

Miguel Rojas 2B | LAD
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Belts second long ball
Rojas went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI against San Francisco in a 5-4 win Wednesday.
Rojas put the Dodgers on the board with a run-scoring groundout in the second inning, then gave the team a four-run lead with a solo shot in the fourth. The long ball was his second through nine plate appearances this season -- a surprising development given that he hasn't posted double-digit homers in any campaign since going deep a career-high 11 times in 2018. With that in mind, it's not logical to expect Rojas to continue to flash power, especially since he typically starts only when Los Angeles faces a lefty starter.

Geraldo Perdomo SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Officially day-to-day
Manager Torey Lovullo said after Wednesday's loss that Perdomo is day-to-day with right knee discomfort, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
Perdomo injured his knee rounding first base after reaching on an error during the bottom of the 10th inning. The team doesn't seem to be very concerned about his injury, and having a scheduled day off Thursday may allow the 24-year-old infielder to play again Friday against Atlanta without missing any games.

Geraldo Perdomo SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Exits with injury
Perdomo was removed from Wednesday's game against the Yankees with an apparent knee injury, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
Perdomo reached base on an error during the bottom of the 10th inning but was limping as he ran toward second base. The Diamondbacks will take him into the clubhouse for a closer look and should have more information on his status after Wednesday's contest.

Oneil Cruz CF | PIT
Pirates' Oneil Cruz: In leadoff spot Wednesday
Cruz will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
The Pirates faced five straight southpaws to begin the season, and the left-handed-hitting Cruz hit sixth twice, seventh twice and had one day off in those contests. With right-hander Trevor Williams taking the ball Wednesday, Cruz will be elevated to the top of the batting order.

Tyler Wade SS | TEX
Padres' Tyler Wade: Losing playing time
Wade is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
He'll remain on the bench with southpaw Zack Thompson on the hill for St. Louis, but the lefty-hitting Wade had already been withheld from the starting nine in two of the previous three games in which the Padres faced off against right-handers. After manning third base for each of San Diego's first three contests of the regular season, Wade's perch atop the depth chart seems to be loosening, with Graham Pauley and Eguy Rosario beginning to earn more playing time at his expense. All three players are likely to see their opportunities dwindle, however, once Manny Machado is cleared to play the hot corner on an everyday basis, as he remains limited to designated-hitter duties for now following October elbow surgery.

Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Moves up to two hole
Tovar will start at shortstop and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.
Tovar batted leadoff one game, but his other five starts this season came from the seventh spot in the order. Rockies manager Bud Black is shaking up his lineup a bit in hopes of jumpstarting an offense that's averaging just 2.7 runs per game amid a 1-5 start to the season.

Masyn Winn SS | STL
Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Sitting out Wednesday
Winn is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in San Diego, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
It's a day off for Winn, who will yield to veteran Brandon Crawford at shortstop. Winn is 5-for-16 with one RBI and one stolen base in his first five games this season.

Orlando Arcia SS | MIN
Braves' Orlando Arcia: Gets day off
Arcia is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
Arcia will head to the bench in what appears to be routine maintenance for a day game after a night game. Luis Guillorme will step in at shortstop for Arcia, who has gone 9-for-20 with four doubles and one walk while plating two runs and scoring twice through Atlanta's first five contests of the season.
