  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Opening second half at Double-A

The Reds promoted Cruz from High-A Dayton to Double-A Chattanooga on Wednesday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The switch-hitting infielder's promotion comes after he took part in the All-Star Futures Game over the weekend. De La Cruz, the Reds' top prospect, earned the invite to the exhibition game after slashing .306/.363/.609 with 19 home runs and 28 stolen bases across 306 plate appearances for Dayton. As he makes the jump to Chattanooga, De La Cruz is expected to split his time between both third base and shortstop so that fellow top prospect Matt McLain (wrist) can continue to see his fair share of time at the latter position.

  • Paul DeJong SS | NYY

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Named Player of the Week

DeJong was named the International League Player of the Week on Tuesday.

DeJong returned from a hand injury last Tuesday and hit .364 with three home runs, 11 RBI and seven runs scored in six games. The shortstop is up to 14 homers and 17 RBI in 46 games with Triple-A Memphis. He's batting .236, but an .811 OPS shows he's been able to flex some power since he was sent down in May. A little more consistency with the bat could get the 28-year-old a look for a promotion later in the summer if the Cardinals need infield depth.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Pelts 19th homer

Adames went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 9-5 loss to the Giants.

Adames concluded the Brewers' first-half schedule with a pair of two-hit games to lift his batting average to .220. His first-inning home run was his 19th of the season, keeping him one ahead of Rowdy Tellez for the team lead.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Snags steal No. 10

Lindor went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Cubs.

The shortstop extended his current hitting streak to 11 games in the final contest before the All-Star break, while the steal was his 10th of the season. Lindor has seven career seasons with double-digit pilfers, and the only time he failed to reach that mark was in the shortened 2020 campaign.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: MRI brings good news

Crawford underwent an MRI on Sunday that revealed nothing more than bruising and inflammation to his right knee, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

While the knee issue was still deemed significant enough for the Giants to place Crawford on the 10-day injured list Saturday, the veteran shortstop should have a good chance at being available July 26 when first eligible for activation. Thairo Estrada is expected to serve as the Giants' primary shortstop while Crawford is on the shelf.

  • Diego Castillo 3B | MIN

Pirates' Diego Castillo: Looks like reserve player

Castillo will start in right field and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Though he's back in the lineup for the series finale while lefty Austin Gomber takes the bump for Colorado, the righty-hitting Castillo was on the bench in both of the previous two games, when the Rockies brought right-handers to the hill. As such, Castillo looks to be stuck in the short side of a platoon at the moment.

  • Nationals' Dee Strange-Gordon: Back with Washington

Strange-Gordon re-signed Sunday with the Nationals on a minor-league contract, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Strange-Gordon initially declined a minor-league assignment and elected free agency when he cleared waivers in mid-June, but he apparently didn't find many offers to his liking while he was on the open market for the past month. As a result, he'll return to the Washington organization and is expected to report to Triple-A Rochester coming out of the All-Star break. Before the Nationals designated him for assignment, Strange-Gordon appeared in 23 games for the big club and slashed .305/.305/.356 with three stolen bases, six runs and three RBI across 59 plate appearances.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Dodgers' Trea Turner: Slugs pair of homers

Turner went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Angels.

Turner hit a solo shot in the first inning and a two-run blast in the third, giving the Dodgers all the offense they needed for the win. It was his first multi-homer game of the season and the 11th such effort in his career. The shortstop has four multi-hit games during his seven-game hitting streak, which has lifted his season slash line to .306/.354/.493 in 90 contests. He has 14 homers, 68 RBI, 54 runs scored and 17 stolen bases as the Dodgers' regular No. 2 hitter.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Swipes bag, scores three runs

Edman went 2-for-5 with a walk, a stolen base and three runs scored in Saturday's 11-3 victory over the Reds.

The steal was Edman's 20th this season, tying him with Ronald Acuna for fourth in MLB. Edman endured a rough stretch at the plate recently and his OPS still sits at just .699 for the season, but he has now recorded multiple hits in four of his last five games. Edman remains the Cardinals' leadoff hitter.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Out with knee inflammation

Crawford landed on the 10-day injured list with right knee inflammation Saturday, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Crawford had been back from a previous trip to the injured list with the same problem for less than two weeks, struggling to a .407 OPS over that stretch. Per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Giants believe Crawford may need to miss more than the minimum 10 days to get fully healthy. Evan Longoria (oblique) returned from the injured list to take his place on the roster, while Thairo Estrada will slide over from second base to become the primary shortstop in Crawford's absence.
