  • Javier Baez SS | DET

    Cubs' Javier Baez: Remains sidelined

Baez (hamstring) will sit for the second straight game and the third time in four days Tuesday against Atlanta.

Baez has been battling hamstring tightness. He was reportedly available off the bench Monday but did not enter the game. Nico Hoerner will make another start at shortstop Tuesday.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Smashes clutch homer

Seager went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Reds.

Seager's highlight of the night came in the seventh inning, when he crushed a hanging slider from Amir Garrett over the wall in center to tie the game at three and eventually send it into extra innings. Monday was his third consecutive multi-hit performance, a stretch that's boosted his slash line to .275/.359/.495 with four home runs, 14 runs scored and 17 RBI to go along with a 12:18 BB:K.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Braves' Dansby Swanson: Pops second homer

Swanson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 8-7 win over the Cubs.

Atlanta hit Zach Davies hard before chasing the Cubs righty from the game, but Swanson was the only one to take him deep. The 27-year-old shortstop has had a rough start to the season, and despite Monday's performance he's slashing .188/.261/.338 through 22 games with two homers, four runs and six RBI.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Exits with elbow issue

Rojas was lifted from Monday's game against Milwaukee due to an elbow injury, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Rojas appeared to suffer the injury while turning a double play Monday night, and manager Don Mattingly stated after the game that the shortstop may have hyperextended his throwing elbow, per McPherson. Rojas will be considered day-to-day until further notice.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: On bench Monday

Crawford (quadriceps) will remain on the bench Monday against the Rockies, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Crawford was scratched with a tight right quadriceps Saturday against the Marlins and did not play a role in Sunday's contest. He'll sit for at least one more game, with Mauricio Dubon making another start at shortstop. The Giants are hopeful Crawford can return Tuesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

  • Pablo Reyes RF | SD

Brewers' Pablo Reyes: Called up, starting Monday

Reyes was recalled by the Brewers on Monday and will bat eighth and play third base against the Marlins.

Reyes hit just .229/.295/.368 in 89 games for the Pirates in 2018 and 2019 and did not get into a game last season. However, he's apparently set to play more of a role during his time with Milwaukee -- at least against lefties like Monday's starter for Miami, Trevor Rogers.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Available off bench

Baez is dealing with minor hamstring tightness but is available off the bench Monday against Atlanta, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Baez sits for the second time in three days after feeling something while running the bases during Sunday's game against the Brewers. Nico Hoerner will start at shortstop in his absence, but it doesn't sound as though Baez will be sidelined for an extended period.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Sits again Monday

Baez finds himself on the bench for the second time in three days Monday against Atlanta.

The Cubs have yet to announce any particular injury for Baez, though Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com notes that the shortstop appeared to tweak his hamstring Sunday against the Brewers. Baez has shown enough power (six homers) to maintain a respectable 108 wRC+ despite a 42.7 percent strikeout rate and .272 on-base percentage, so an injury-related absence may make more sense than a performance-related benching. Nico Hoerner will start in his place Monday.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Rockies' Trevor Story: Launches grand slam

Story went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and scored twice in a 12-2 win over the Phillies on Sunday.

Story capped off a seven-run fourth inning by pimping a grand slam into the left-field seats for his second home run in three games. The 28-year-old rewarded his patient fantasy managers with a recent power surge after needing 19 games to hit his first long ball of the campaign. Story has been seeing the ball extremely well lately, as he's slashing .417/.429/.792 with two home runs, nine RBI and six runs scored over his last seven games.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Hits in both ends of doubleheader

Ahmed started both games of Sunday's doubleheader sweep over Atlanta and hit safely in each. The shortstop went 2-for-3 with a double in the opener, then 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in the nightcap.

Ahmed was given a day off Friday and got a second day when Saturday's game was postponed, giving him time to work on his mechanics. The break appeared to work for this one day, as he stroked four hard-hit balls on the day. Ahmed's Statcast profile suggests his early season slump is well deserved, but a .162 BABIP supports the notion that he's been unlucky.
