Dodgers' Corey Seager: Nearing rehab games

Seager (hamstring) may take live batting practice Sunday and could begin a rehab assignment this week, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Seager has resumed running and taking swings over the last week with the hopes of rejoining the Dodgers at the end of the All-Star break. The 25-year-old landed on the injured list June 13 with a left hamstring strain and should only require a handful of rehab outings to get back up to speed.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Gets day off

Crawford is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Crawford will retreat to the bench as the Giants stock up on extra right-handed bats to counter southpaw Robbie Ray. Donovan Solano will replace Crawford at shortstop and serve as the Giants' leadoff hitter.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Sitting Sunday as expected

Baez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at Cincinnati.

Manager Joe Maddon indicated Saturday that Baez would likely receive a breather in the series finale, and he is indeed on the bench Sunday. The 26-year-old started the last 27 games with a .783 OPS and seven homers in that stretch. Addison Russell takes over at shortstop in his absence.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Homers in loss

Edman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 12-2 loss to the Padres.

Edman opened the scoring with a long ball off Padres starter Chris Paddack on the fourth pitch of the game. Edman then came around to score on a Yairo Munoz double in the eighth inning, but the game was out of reach at that point. Edman now has three homers and a .321 average in 28 at-bats this season, while primarily deployed as a pinch hitter. The 24-year-old has also stolen two bases.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Braves' Dansby Swanson: Three hits in win over Mets

Swanson went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI in a 5-4 win over the Mets on Saturday.

The shortstop's double in the third inning drove in the Braves' third run, and he continues to be productive, sporting a .264/.329/.478 slash line. Swanson has delivered 15 homers, six steals, 54 runs and 52 RBI, putting the 25-year-old well on pace for a career-best campaign.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Lifts grand slam in win

Baez went 1-for-4 with an grand slam in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Reds.

Baez broke the game open as he launched his 20th home run of the season and his fifth career grand slam in the eighth inning off Jared Hughes, increasing the Cubs' lead to 5-0. The 26-year-old has 56 RBI with a strong .285/.324/.549 slash line this year.

  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

    Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Out Saturday

Arcia is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Manager Craig Counsell made it clear that Arcia would have to share time at shortstop moving forward, and this is now two consecutive absences in favor of Tyler Saladino. Arcia has three home runs in his last six games but is still batting just .190/.225/.405 for the month of June. Counsell has also expressed concern with Arcia's defense.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Finally heating up

Crawford went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a run scored in Friday's 6-3 win over Arizona.

Crawford continued his late-June hot streak, bringing his 10-day slash line up to .343/.368/.543 with seven doubles and eight RBI over that span. The veteran shortstop's bat has been cold for seemingly the entire season up until this point, and his .280 BABIP and 9.1 HR/FB indicate that he is not necessarily getting unlucky. So while it would be smart for fantasy owners with a need at shortstop to plug in Crawford until his bat cools off, they shouldn't have long-term visions for him.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Likely getting day off Sunday

Baez will likely get a day off Sunday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Baez has started every game since June 2, so manager Joe Maddon is looking to get him a little rest heading into the All-Star break. Baez won't officially be on the bench Sunday until the Cubs release their lineup for that contest, but fantasy players should not plan on him starting. Even if he does not start, though, Baez figures to be available off the bench.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Hitting leadoff Friday

Edman will play third base and hit leadoff in Friday's game against the Padres.

Edman will occupy Matt Carpenter's regular role for the second game in a row. It's not clear if something is ailing Carpenter or if he is simply getting a break, but regardless, Edman has been the beneficiary.
