Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Not starting Saturday

Arcia is not in the lineup Saturday against the Tigers.

Pirates' Pablo Reyes: Not in lineup vs. Reds

Reyes is not in the lineup against the Reds on Saturday.

Reyes will be withheld from the starting lineup for a second consecutive game as Adam Frazier gets another start in right field.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Braves' Dansby Swanson: May resume swinging bat this weekend

Swanson (hand) hasn't resumed hitting but may progress to that step this weekend, and manager Brian Snitker hopes that the shortstop will be able to play in the NLDS, which begins Thursday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

It appears as though Swanson's hand is steadily improving during his rehab back in Atlanta, though this weekend will likely determine whether he'll be ready to return for the start of the postseason. The shortstop went down with a partially torn ligament in his left hand during Tuesday's game versus the Mets.

Pirates' Pablo Reyes: Out of lineup Friday

Reyes is out of Friday's starting lineup versus Cincinnati.

Reyes will head to the bench for a day off following nine starts in the previous 10 games. During that span, he's gone 10-for-35 (.286 average) with two home runs and five RBI. Adam Frazier will draw a start in right field while Kevin Kramer gets the nod at second base.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Rockies' Trevor Story: Launches solo homer in victory

Story went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Phillies.

Story connected on his 35th homer of the season in the second inning with a solo shot off Jake Arrieta, and he's now connected on home runs in back-to-back games. Story has produced elite offensive numbers in 2018, with a .291/.346/.562 slash line with 42 doubles, six triples, 105 RBI, 86 runs and 26 steals.

Rockies' Trevor Story: Homers and triples in win

Story went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a triple and three runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Phillies.

Story did his part in the 14-0 win, going deep in the fifth inning for his 34th home run to pull into a tie for second place in the National League behind Matt Carpenter (36). The 25-year-old also ranks in the top five in the NL with 104 RBI and sports an impressive .290 batting average. Now over the elbow issue that cost him five games over the past week, Story figures to be in the lineup the rest of the way to help Colorado secure a playoff spot.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Takes seat Wednesday

Crawford is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Padres, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Crawford has started the last six games at shortstop, hitting .250/.308/.417 with a homer and two RBI over that stretch. He'll sit for Wednesday's series finale as manager Bruce Bochy gives the veteran shortstop some rest with the Giants out of the playoff picture. Abiatal Avelino is starting at shortstop and hitting eighth in place of Crawford.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Braves' Dansby Swanson: Done for regular season

Swanson is dealing with a partially torn ligament in his left hand and will be reevaluated next week.

Swanson suffered the injury during Tuesday's game against the Mets, and an MRI revealed ligament damage. He'll receive treatment in Atlanta for the remainder of the regular season before being reevaluated next week to determine his availability for the playoffs. Charlie Culberson figures to fill in at shortstop for the final week of the campaign.

  • Pablo Reyes RF | SD

Pirates' Pablo Reyes: Goes deep again Tuesday

Reyes hit his second homer in as many games Tuesday, going 2-for-3 with two walks and three RBI against the Cubs.

He's hitting .357 with three home runs and seven RBI in 42 September at-bats. Surprisingly, the right-handed hitter batted better against righties (.306) than lefties (.254) for Triple-A Indianapolis in 2018. Reyes is 7-for-17 against southpaws in the majors, however, and will likely get another start against the left-handed Jose Quintana on Wednesday.

Braves' Dansby Swanson: Returns to Atlanta for evaluation

Swanson (hand) went back to Atlanta on Wednesday in order to be examined by the club's head physician Dr. Gary Lourie after undergoing on MRI on Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

The Braves have yet to release the results of Swanson's MRI, though this announcement doesn't inspire much confidence. The shortstop suffered the injury during Tuesday's game against the Mets, exiting the contest with soreness in his left hand/wrist area. More should be known regarding his status following Wednesday's evaluation. With Atlanta already assured of a postseason berth, the club won't rush him back this week even if he avoided a serious injury.
