The Diamondbacks announced Thursday shortstop Chris Owings underwent successful surgery on the labrum in his left shoulder. The surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews.

Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford went 1 for 5 with a grand slam in his team's 8-0 wild-card win over the Pirates Wednesday.
