Tigers' Javier Baez: Suffers upper-arm contusion

Baez left Sunday's game in the sixth inning against the Twins with a left upper-arm contusion.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Tweaks hamstring Sunday

Witt exited Sunday's game against the Rays with right hamstring tightness, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

Witt delivered an RBI single in his lone plate appearance Sunday and was removed after the first inning. The Royals labeled the 22-year-old's departure as precautionary, and he should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener against the Angels.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Exits with apparent injury

Witt was removed from Sunday's game against the Rays with an apparent injury, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

Witt went 1-for-1 with an RBI and was replaced in the field for the top of the second inning for undisclosed reasons. The 22-year-old's departure is presumed to be related to some type of injury, and the Royals should provide an update in the near future.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Provides game-tying hit

Mateo went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Yankees.

Mateo's RBI single in the seventh inning tied the game at 3-3. The shortstop was also brought home twice in the contest on a single and a sacrifice fly, both from Cedric Mullins. • Jeter Downs SS | NYY

Red Sox's Jeter Downs: Starts at third for Devers

Downs started at third base and went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays.

Downs filled in for the injured Rafael Devers, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a hamstring injury. Downs and Bobby Dalbec are the most likely fill-ins at the hot corner without Devers, who the Red Sox expect to return when eligible, per Betelhem Ashame of MLB.com. The Devers transaction plus one involving Enrique Hernandez (hip), who was transferred to the 60-day injured list, means Downs could be up with the team indefinitely. Downs is batting .156/.176/.281 over 11 games.

  • Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Makes third straight start

Duran started at third base and went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Oakland.

Duran, who was called up following the All-Star break, has started all three games since -- once at second base and the last two at third. The righty hitter has been in the lineup against both lefties and righties, and the Rangers may see how he develops in an everyday role. Duran's hit in all three games and, for now, has marginalized Josh Smith and Charlie Culberson.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Dodgers' Trea Turner: Goes yard in win

Turner went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Giants.

Turner went back-to-back with Mookie Betts in the third inning as the Dodgers established their lead. This extended Turner's hitting streak to 10 games, a span in which he's gone 15-for-43 (.349) with four long balls, 10 RBI, 12 runs scored and a stolen base. The surge has him up to a .306/.352/.497 slash line, 15 homers, 69 RBI, 56 runs scored and 17 steals through 93 contests.

He's batting .349 (15-for-43) in that span. For the season, the rookie is up to a .256/.299/.457 slash line with 14 homers, 50 RBI, 51 runs scored, 19 steals, 19 doubles and five triples in 90 games.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Padres' CJ Abrams: Dealing with biceps soreness

Abrams was removed from Saturday's lineup against the Mets due to biceps soreness, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Abrams didn't throw over the All-Star break prior to throwing during Friday's matchup, so he'll be held out Saturday as a precautionary measure. He should be considered day-to-day ahead of Sunday's series finale.

Crawford (knee) took groundballs Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

This is the first time he has fielded groundballs since getting a cortisone shot last weekend. It's unclear if Crawford will go on a rehab assignment, but it sounds like he is at least a week away from returning.
