Rangers' Josh Smith: Three hits in major-league debut
Smith went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in Monday's 9-5 win over the Rays.
Brad Miller (hip) went on the injured list Monday, and Smith was called up to replace him on the 26-man roster. Smith, 24, showed well in his major-league debut, though all three of his hits were singles. A natural second baseman, he started at third base and batted eighth Monday -- with Marcus Semien and Corey Seager in the middle infield, Smith will likely have to move away from his most comfortable positions to draw playing time. If he does well initially, the lefty hitter could move into a strong-side platoon role at third base with righty hitters Andy Ibanez and Charlie Culberson.

Nationals' Ehire Adrianza: Rehab moves to Triple-A
Adrianza (quadriceps) had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Rochester on Monday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Athletics' Kevin Smith: Departs with apparent injury
Smith exited Monday's game against the Astros in the bottom of the sixth inning due to an apparent injury, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
The Athletics were held without a hit for the first five innings of Monday's matchup, but Smith led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a double. However, the 25-year-old slowed down as he headed into second base and left the game with a trainer. The exact nature and severity of his injury aren't yet clear.

Joey Wendle 2B | ATL
Marlins' Joey Wendle: Exits with right hamstring issue
Wendle was removed from Monday's game against the Rockies due to right hamstring discomfort, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Wendle went 1-for-2 to begin Monday's matchup before he was replaced by a pinch runner in the top of the fourth inning. The 32-year-old has had two IL stints due to right hamstring issues this season, but it's not yet clear whether his current injury will force him to return to the injured list. If Wendle misses additional time, Brian Anderson (back), Jon Berti and Willians Astudillo will likely fill in at the hot corner.

Carlos Correa SS | HOU
Twins' Carlos Correa: Tests positive for COVID-19
Correa tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, Audra Martin of Bally Sports North reports.
Correa wasn't in the lineup for Monday's matchup against the Tigers, and the Twins found out during the game that the shortstop had tested positive for COVID-19. Since Royce Lewis (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday, Correa's absence will leave Minnesota particularly shorthanded at shortstop. Jorge Polanco, Nick Gordon and Jose Miranda should be in the mix for additional playing time while Correa is away from the team.

Josh H. Smith 2B | TEX
Rangers' Josh Smith: Called up by Rangers
Smith's contract was selected by the Rangers on Monday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Smith is among the Rangers' top prospects, and he was promoted to Triple-A Round Rock to begin the 2022 season. Over 40 games at Round Rock, he slashed .273/.382/.422 with four homers, 30 runs, 29 RBI and eight stolen bases. While the 24-year-old displayed slightly decreased power abilities at the Triple-A level this year, he struck out just 20.4 percent of the time and has decent power and speed potential. Smith is a middle infielder, but he's also played at third base and in center field this year. He's expected to be in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Rays.
