Noelvi Marte RF | CIN
Mariners' Noelvi Marte: Warming up in High-A
Marte is hitting a modest .252/.358/.417 with four homers, three steals and a 14:37 BB:K across 26 games for High-A Everett.
He's shown some signs of warming up lately, going 6-for-17 (.353) with a homer and a steal across the last four games, but Marte has run hot and cold for the entirety of the season's first month-plus. Before this stretch, he went 3-for-24 in a six-game span -- and before that, he went 8-for-19 over four games. The net is that while Marte's plate discipline has remained strong, his power production and consistency have been issues. After last season's 17 homers and 23 steals in (what was then) Low-A, much more was expected from Marte with the bat. He's had his struggles with the glove, too, with eight errors giving him an unpleasant .922 fielding percentage and making it look increasingly likely that he'll be moved off shortstop at some point. Marte should still be considered a high-end prospect, but it would be good to see more power from him, especially after he closed out 2021 with a lengthy homer drought.

Reginald Preciado SS | CHC
Cubs' Reginald Preciado: Brutal results in Single-A
Preciado is hitting just .178/.197/.247 with no homers, no steals and a 2:37 BB:K for Single-A Myrtle Beach.
A highly rated prospect entering the season after last year's impressive showing in rookie ball, Preciado has struck out in nearly half of his plate appearances (48.7 percent) this year. He had one good game May 4 against Salem, when he went 4-for-6 with two doubles and six RBI; unfortunately, that one game represents 30 percent of his hits and two-thirds of his RBI across 18 games in Single-A. The bright side for Preciado is that he's still a few days shy of his 19th birthday, so he has plenty of time to figure things out and tap into his considerable raw tools -- but given his ugly stats in 2022 and distance from the big leagues, fantasy managers can't be blamed for moving on to prospects with more immediate upside.

Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Nationals' Dee Strange-Gordon: Filling in for Escobar
Strange-Gordon will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Thursday's game against the Mets, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Strange-Gordon picks up his third start in a row while Alcides Escobar continues to deal with an infected nail on one of his index fingers. In the previous two contests, Strange-Gordon went 2-for-7 with an RBI.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Steals fourth bag of season
Swanson went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored during Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Red Sox.
Swanson drew a walk in the third inning and proceeded to steal second base before Matt Olson brought him home with an RBI double to center. While the shortstop is on pace for a career high in stolen bases with four steals through 32 games, overall he's struggled with the bat and is slashing just .226/.303/.671.

Orlando Arcia SS | MIN
Braves' Orlando Arcia: Walk-off homer in three-hit effort
Arcia went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Red Sox.
Arcia started rallies in the third and seventh with singles, but he only came around to score once. However, in the bottom of the ninth with the score tied 3-3 and Ozzie Albies on first base, Arcia ripped two-run homer to left field for his first long ball of the season. The backup middle infielder has appeared in just two games since April 24, but he's 4-for-5 during those contests.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Tigers' Javier Baez: Gets day off
Baez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.
According to Chris McCosky of The Detroit News, Baez's absence from the lineup is a scheduled off day for the 29-year-old. Since returning April 24 from a stint on the injured list due to a thumb issue, Baez started in each of the Tigers' last 17 games and slashed .200/.243/.300 over that stretch. Harold Castro fills in for Baez at shortstop in the series finale.
-
Trevor Story SS | BOS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Finally goes deep
Story went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to Atlanta.
Story launched his first home run for his new team 26 games into the season. The second baseman's season-opening slump still hangs over the Red Sox, but a 3-for-9 stretch with a homer and four RBI over the last two games is an encouraging sign. He's had a few starts and stops with respect to the slump, but Story's relief was evident in his first laundry cart ride of the season.

Bobby Witt SS | KC
Royals' Bobby Witt: Plates three in win
Witt went 1-for-5 with a double and three RBI in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Rangers.
Hitting leadoff for the third straight game, Witt was able to snap a five-game run without an RBI. He knocked in a pair with a fifth-inning double and added another on a fielder's choice in the seventh. With Adalberto Mondesi (knee) out for the year, Witt's seen a little more time at shortstop, but third base remains his primary position. The 21-year-old is slashing .219/.248/.324 with a home run, 10 RBI, 10 runs scored and five stolen bases through 109 plate appearances this season.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Goes deep again in loss
Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Royals on Wednesday.
After swatting two long balls Tuesday, Seager went hitless over his first three plate appearances Wednesday. However, he launched a 420-foot shot to center field in the ninth inning to finish the game on a high note. Seager's power has mostly come in bunches this season -- he swatted a long ball in three straight games over the final days of April and now has three homers over his past two contests. Six of seven home runs on the season have been of the solo variety.

Brandon Crawford SS | STL
Giants' Brandon Crawford: Homers in victory
Crawford went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, three RBI and two runs Wednesday's win over the Rockies.
Crawford drove in a run on a fielder's choice and came around to score in the bottom of the fourth inning before later taking Chad Kuhl deep for a two-run shot in the following frame. The homer was the shortstop's third of the year and second in his last seven games. Overall, Crawford's slash line of .223/.328/.359 leaves much to be desired, and he'll look to build off this performance moving forward.
