  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Homers in blowout loss

Correa went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer during Wednesday's 9-4 loss to the Orioles.

After a leadoff walk to Luis Arraez to start the fourth, Correa smacked his second home run of the season to deep center. The high-priced free agent has had mixed results so far with Minnesota, but he's currently on a seven-game hitting streak. During that stretch, he's slashing .452/.645/1.114 with eight RBI.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Shows positive signs

Story went 2-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI in Wednesday's 10-5 extra-inning loss to the Angels.

Well before Boston's bullpen melted down in the final two innings, Story was the "story" for the Red Sox. He's struggled since Opening Day but has shown recent signs he may be turning the corner at the plate. He had a two-hit game Saturday in Baltimore followed by a three-walk effort Sunday. "That was a big day for me, the three walks," Story told Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com. "When I can control the strike zone like that and make decisions like that, good things are going to come. I've felt that way for the past week and it has been nice. I know I'm pretty close." Perhaps signing late in spring training has led to a slow start. Story has yet to homer and has a career-high 28.4 K%.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Homers in loss

Crawford went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers.

The Giants were unable to muster much offense against Los Angeles pitching Wednesday, as Crawford produced the team's only run with his second-inning solo shot off Tony Gonsolin. The long ball was his second of the campaign and first since April 15. Crawford hit a career-high 24 homers in 2021, but he's far behind that pace through 94 plate appearances this season.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Goes deep in loss

Bogaerts went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Angels.

Bogaerts took Aaron Loup deep in the bottom of the eighth inning, giving the Red Sox a 4-3 lead that would be erased in the next half-inning. He later singled in the bottom of the 10th frame. The homer was his second of the year and the shortstop registered multiple hits for the ninth time in 2022. He now has a .359/.410/.511 slash line with 10 extra-base hits, 16 runs and 10 RBI over 92 at-bats this season.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Braves' Dansby Swanson: Scores twice, drives in one

Swanson went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Mets.

Swanson played a significant role in Atlanta's seven-run sixth inning by driving in Adam Duvall with a single before also coming around to score later in the frame. He has now tallied at least one hit in eight of his last 10 games, during which he's also recorded one home run, five RBI and six runs scored. Swanson has improved his average to .233 across 101 plate appearances on the campaign, but his strikeout rate remains elevated at a concerning 35.6 percent.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Marlins' Jon Berti: Swats two homers

Berti went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs during Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.

The veteran utility man hit leadoff against lefty Madison Bumgarner on Wednesday and delivered his first two homers of the season during the first and seventh innings. Berti has a .314/.467/.600 slash line with four RBI, 10 runs and two stolen bases in 15 games, and his strong start should allow him to continue seeing at least semi-regular starts across the diamond.

  • Otto Lopez SS | MIA

Blue Jays' Otto Lopez: Back from rehab assignment

Lopez (oblique) was activated from the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.

Lopez opened the Triple-A campaign on the shelf with the oblique injury but has now joined Buffalo after a five-game rehab assignment with Single-A Dunedin. He had a .289/.347/.405 slash line with two home runs, 25 RBI, 36 runs and 15 stolen bases in 43 games at the Triple-A level last season, and he could be in the mix for a big-league promotion should the Blue Jays require infield depth later in the year.

  • Luke Williams 2B | ATL

Giants' Luke Williams: Sent to Triple-A

Williams was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old has been with the big-league club for just over a week and will head back to Triple-A since Mike Yastrzemski (illness) is returning from the COVID-19 IL. Williams has appeared in eight games for the Giants this season and is 3-for-12 with a double, three RBI, a run and four strikeouts.

  • David Fletcher 2B | ATL

Angels' David Fletcher: On bench Wednesday

Fletcher isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Fletcher has gone 0-for-5 with two walks over the last three games, and he'll get a breather Wednesday. Tyler Wade will start at the keystone and bat eighth.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Gets breather Wednesday

Pena isn't starting Wednesday against the Mariners, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Pena went 3-for-7 with a homer, four RBI and a steal over the last two games, and he'll get his first day off since April 17. Aledmys Diaz will start at shortstop and bat seventh.
