Ahmed (finger) is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres.

Ahmed missed the last couple games after his fingernail was damaged while fielding a groundball in Monday's game, but he is ready to return to action on the heels of a team off day. Ahmed will start at shortstop and hit seventh Friday night.

Bichette (head) has yet to pass concussion protocol and remains without a clear timeline, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Bichette had to leave Thursday night's game after a pitch hit the brim of his helmet, and he was eventually sent for concussion testing. While the team still hasn't provided a clear timeline for the rookie's return, he's not in Friday's starting lineup and manager Charlie Montoyo stated that he doesn't expect Bichette to return during Toronto's series with the Yankees, per Matheson.

A pitch caught Bichette on the brim of his helmet Thursday and he was eventually removed from the game for concussion testing. The Blue Jays have not announced whether Bichette was diagnosed with a concussion or not. Richard Urena is manning shortstop Friday with Anthony Alford leading off against lefty J.A. Happ.

Reyes (personal) is back in the lineup Friday against the Brewers.

Reyes had been away from the team since Tuesday to be with his wife and newborn child. He'll bat sixth and play left field Friday.

Edman went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs in an extra-inning win over the Cubs on Thursday.

Edman has shown a welcome penchant for meaningful contact in an impressive September, as 11 of his 20 hits during the month have been either a double (four), a triple (two) or a home run (five). Coupled with his .313 average since the calendar flipped from August, the rookie's contributions have been pivotal to the Cardinals' ongoing postseason push.

Lindor went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored in a victory over Detroit on Thursday.

Lindor continued his strong 2019 campaign with his 13th three-hit game of the season. The 25-year-old missed the first three weeks of the season with calf and ankle injuries but has played in every game since his return, slashing .292/.343/.533 with 31 homers, 70 RBI and 21 stolen bases.

Bichette was lifted from Thursday's game against the Orioles to undergo concussion testing.

Bichette was hit by a pitch on the brim of his helmet during the sixth inning, and although he was initially able to stay in the game, the Blue Jays removed him in the seventh to undergo precautionary concussion testing. He'll be considered day-to-day until another update is provided.

Baez (thumb) has been cleared for light baseball activity, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Baez is making progress in his recovery, and after his exam Thursday, he has been cleared to pinch run while wearing a protective glove if manager Joe Maddon elects to use him in that situation. However, Baez is not out of the woods yet, as his thumb is still preventing him from taking at-bats or playing the field. A target date for Baez to resume full activities has not been set yet, but it was reported earlier this month that he was unlikely to return before the postseason, and given where things stand with just 10 regular-season games to go, it seems likely that is still the case.

Fletcher went 3-for-5 and scored a run in Wednesday's victory over the Yankees.

Fletcher picked up a trio of singles to register his third multi-hit game in September. The 25-year-old continues to reach base at a steady clip as he has posted a .418 OBP this month and ranks 23rd in the American League with a .353 OBP for the season. He also holds the second-lowest strikeout rate in baseball at 9.2 percent.

Crawford is not in Thursday's lineup against the Red Sox.

He is hitting .275 with one home run, 10 strikeouts and 10 walks in 51 at-bats this month. Mauricio Dubon will start at shortstop while Cristhian Adames starts at second base.
