Gordon (ankle) avoided major injury and is not expected to miss an extended period of time, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Gordon will be reevaluated when he gets to the park prior to Friday's game. He was forced to leave Thursday's outing in the ninth inning after twisting his right ankle. Even though he will likely bypass a stint on the DL, there's a chance the Mariners will give him a couple days off to recover, so consider him day-to-day for the time being.

Manager Alex Cora said he will not rush Bogaerts (wrist) back to the lineup, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports. "I'll take my time," the manager said. "Whenever he's ready, he'll come back. I'm not going to rush him to get back in the lineup."

Bogaerts said the wrist was better Thursday after getting plunked by a pitch Wednesday, but abandoned his plan to hit because "it wasn't good enough." He'll come to the park Friday and see where his wrist is at. The Red Sox, owners of MLB's best record and a 6.5-game lead over the second-place Yankees, have the room to be cautious with their starting shortstop. If he can't go Friday against the Yankees, expect Brock Holt to start in his place for a second straight game.

Gordon left Thursday's loss to Toronto in the ninth inning after twisting his right ankle, MLB.com reports. He went 1-for-3 with a run scored and stolen base before departing.

Gordon had to be helped off the field, so it looks like he could miss some time. Gordon reached base to lead off the bottom of the first inning and wasted no time stealing second base. After failing to swipe a base for 15 consecutive games in July, Gordon now has four steals in his last eight games and leads the American League with 26 on the season.

Turner went 2-for-4 with a home run, two stolen bases, two runs scored and four RBI in the 10-4 win over the Reds.

Turner did it all at the plate Thursday, bringing his 2018 totals to 14 long balls and 30 stolen bases. He's now set a new career-high in home runs and has hit the 30 stolen base mark for the third straight season. The 25-year-old infielder has established himself as an elite fantasy performer and should continue building on his strong numbers.

Bogaerts (wrist) is uncertain when he will be able to return to the lineup, but said he doesn't need a stint on the disabled list, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. "I really don't think a DL (stint) is an option for me right now," Bogaerts said. "It got better today. Hopefully it gets better even tomorrow and I'll be in there. If not, I'll just wait."

He's clearly not completely ruling out a DL stint, but made it clear that he is going to try to return in short order and avoid an extended absence. Bogaerts sustained a bruised right wrist after being hit by a pitch Tuesday, and was out of Thursday's lineup (the Red Sox had an off day Wednesday). Brock Holt got the start at shortstop in his place.

Vincej was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

The move was a mere formality, as Vincej had been up strictly to fill in for Kyle Seager while the latter was on the paternity list. With the veteran third baseman returning Thursday, Vincej heads back to Tacoma, where he's slashed .236/.301/.341 over 84 games.

Smith went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI for High-A Dunedin in its 4-3 win over Lakeland on Wednesday.

Smith's round tripper -- his 20th of the season and 13th since being promoted to the Florida State League in early May -- came off one of the top pitching prospects in the Detroit organization in Matt Manning. A fourth-round pick in 2017, Smith has emerged as a top-five prospect in the Toronto system thanks to his combination of power and speed (26 steals in 29 attempts this season) at a middle-infield spot.

Bogaerts (wrist) isn't in Thursday's lineup against the Yankees, Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reports.

Bogaerts will get at least one more day off as he attempts to return to health after getting hit by a pitch in Tuesday's tilt. Brock Holt is penciled into the lineup at shortstop and will bat eighth.

Herrera is out of the lineup against the White Sox on Thursday.

Herrera will take a seat during Thursday's getaway day in Chicago following five straight starts. In his place, Jorge Bonifacio will start in right field while batting fifth in the order.

DeJong is out of the lineup versus Colorado on Thursday.

DeJong will retreat to the bench for Thursday's getaway day while Yairo Munoz draws a start at shortstop in his stead. Across 13 games since the All-Star break, DeJong has slashed .196/.246/.333 with eight RBI.
