  • Rays' Chandler Simpson: Not considered for promotion

The Rays did not consider promoting Simpson from Triple-A Durham to take the roster spot of the injured Jonny DeLuca (shoulder), Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Rays are down both DeLuca and Josh Lowe (oblique) for at least the next couple weeks, but Simpson evidently wasn't under real consideration when Coco Montes was recalled to take DeLuca's spot Tuesday. Simpson has a chance to be a fantasy difference maker when he does arrive due to his prolific base-stealing ability, but he will have to wait a bit longer. The 24-year-old is hitting .297/.325/.351 with five stolen bases in his first eight games with Triple-A Durham this season.

  • Pirates' Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Getting afternoon off

Kiner-Falefa is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Manager Derek Shelton will give Kiner-Falefa a breather as the Pirates wrap up their series with the Cardinals with a day game after a night game. The recently promoted Tsung-Che Cheng will make his MLB debut Wednesday, starting at shortstop in Kiner-Falefa's stead and batting ninth.

  • Jesus Made SS | MIL

Brewers' Jesus Made: Day-to-day with rolled ankle

Made rolled his ankle Friday while playing for Single-A Carolina, but he may not have to go on the injured list, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Carolina was cautious and held Made out of action over the weekend, but it's unclear if Made will be ready to return to the lineup within the next few days. Made, who turns 18 years old in May, is coming off one of the best Dominican Summer League campaigns in history and has a chance to be a fast rising superstar shortstop or third baseman.

  • Trey Sweeney SS | DET

Tigers' Trey Sweeney: Idle against lefty

Sweeney is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

The left-handed-hitting Sweeney will hit the bench for the second time in the series while the Yankees send another southpaw (Max Fried) to the bump. Javier Baez will fill in for Sweeney at shortstop.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Blazing hot in rehab stint

Neto (shoulder) has gone 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, two walks, six runs and four RBI over his past two minor-league rehab games with Triple-A Salt Lake.

Neto is rehabbing from right shoulder surgery, and he seems just about ready to make his season debut with the Angels. The third-year shortstop has slashed .320/.452/.760 with three long balls, two doubles, 10 runs, six RBI and a stolen base overall across 31 plate appearances during his rehab assignment. Just as importantly, Neto has been able to play shortstop in each of his past two games and in three of his past four contests after being limited to a designated-hitter role in his first three appearances with Salt Lake.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Racks up four RBI in victory

Swanson went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, a stolen base and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 10-6 win over Texas.

Swanson first cracked a solo homer off Rangers left-hander Patrick Corbin to get the Cubs on the board in the second inning. The veteran shortstop then put Chicago in front 4-3 with a sacrifice fly in the fourth frame, and he gave the club an 8-6 lead with a two-run single in the eighth. Although Swanson is batting just .226 over 53 at-bats, he's already up to four big flies, 11 RBI, nine runs scored and two steals in 14 outings.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Scores two runs Tuesday

Witt went 1-for-3 with one walk and two runs in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Twins.

Witt was responsible for both of the Royals' runs Tuesday. He was able to reach third base in the eighth inning on two separate errors by Minnesota, and the superstar shortstop was brought home on a Vinnie Pasquantino groundout for what turned out to be the game-winning run. Witt has registered a hit in four of his last five outings and has started the season slashing .273/.347/.477 with three stolen bases, four doubles, one home run and five RBI across 49 plate appearances.

  • Bo Bichette SS | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Drives in three runs

Bichette went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a walk in Tuesday's win over Boston.

Bichette knocked a two-run single in the sixth inning and added another RBI base hit in the eighth. He's already produced five multi-hit performances through 12 games this season; it took him 20 games to reach that mark to begin 2024. Bichette is now slashing .314/.375/.392 with four extra-base hits and seven RBI through 56 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Cracks first homer of 2025

Lindor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 10-5 win over the Marlins.

Lindor finally registered his first home run of the 2025 season Tuesday, taking Connor Gillispie deep to right field in the first inning. Lindor hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh frame to register his first multi-RBI game of the season while extending the Mets' lead to five runs. He is on a seven-game hitting streak and has gone 9-for-26 with three walks, two doubles, one home run and four RBI over that span.

  • Padres' Jose Iglesias: First career start in outfield

Iglesias is starting in left field and batting seventh against the Athletics on Tuesday.

Iglesias has never started in the outfield during his professional career, so Tuesday will be a first for the 35-year-old. With three of the Padres' possible left fielders on the bench because a lefty is on the mound and with Brandon Lockridge starting in center due to Jackson Merrill's hamstring injury, the door opened for Iglesias to head to left field.
