McLain went 1-for-2 with a walk and a three-run home run in Tuesday's exhibition game against Reds minor leaguers.

McLain didn't put up big numbers in the Cactus League this spring (.255/.281/.418) and acknowledged to Charlie Goldsmith of Cincinnati Magazine that he's had to shake off some rust. What matters most is that McLain is healthy, as he described himself as being in a "good spot" heading into the 2025 season after missing all of 2024 due to injury. The 25-year-old is tentatively expected to bat second in the order for the Reds against Logan Webb and the Giants on Thursday.

Paris will be on the Angels' Opening Day roster, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Paris is a career .110 hitter through 91 MLB at-bats, but he looked like a completely different player in the Cactus League, finishing spring training with a .400/.449/.667 slash line with 13 RBI, 14 runs scored and four stolen bases in 23 games. His phenomenal spring may have bought him another shot with the big-league club, but he doesn't project to start the season as anything more than bench depth.

The Angels selected Anderson's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

Though he only slashed .263/.311/.333 with three RBI and four runs scored across 61 Cactus League plate appearances, Anderson will end up with a spot on the Angels' Opening Day roster. He narrowly outperformed Kevin Newman (.216/.326/.243) this spring, though it's still unclear which player will get the starting nod at shortstop while Zach Neto recovers from a shoulder injury. The signing of Nicky Lopez on Tuesday further complicates the situation. Anderson also saw exposure to second base and the outfield in spring training, so he could be a candidate to fill a utility role.

Betts (illness) will start at shortstop and bat second in Tuesday's exhibition game against the Angels.

Betts has been battling an illness since the Dodgers' trip to Tokyo, but he has now recovered and will be active for the team's final tune-up game before the start of its stateside schedule. The 32-year-old had a rough time in the Cactus League, posting a .636 OPS across 25 plate appearances.

Brujan could need a stint on the 10-day injured list due to a right elbow injury, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

Brujan banged the elbow against the wall while trying to make a catch over the weekend and the issue has lingered. When healthy, Brujan will serve in a utility role with the Cubs.

Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said Tuesday that he's confident that Seager (calf) will be in the lineup for Thursday's season opener versus the Red Sox, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Seager will conclude spring training having missed the Rangers' final three games due to calf soreness, but both Young and manager Bruce Bochy have downplayed concerns about the shortstop's health heading into Opening Day. That said, even if Seager is cleared to start Thursday, it wouldn't be surprising if he received a day off at some point during the season-opening four-game series if the calf issue continues to linger.

With the Tigers dealing with a number of outfield injuries, Baez is an option to see more time in center field, including on Opening Day, Adrian Garro of MLB.com reports.

Detroit is currently down Matt Vierling (shoulder), Parker Meadows (arm) and Wenceel Perez (back), all of whom are natural center-field candidates. The Tigers did scoop up veteran Manuel Margot over the weekend, but president of baseball operations Scott Harris said that he views him as more of a corner outfielder, per Evan Woodbery of MLive.com. Baez has started to see time in center recently, and he may end up as the default option there, at least in the short term, though utility man Ryan Kreidler is also back in the mix after rejoining the MLB roster. While Baez has struggled in recent seasons, the potential addition of outfield eligibility could give him a small boost in fantasy leagues.

Reyes appears to have surpassed Oswald Peraza on the Yankees' depth chart and is a "strong candidate" to make the team's Opening Day roster, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Reyes would fill two needs -- a right-handed bench bat and a player capable of playing both third base and left field -- if he makes the Yankees' roster. The 32-year-old has also had an excellent spring, as a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate Monday lifted his slash line to .326/.434/.488. Unlike Peraza (who is slashing just .167/.273/.188 this spring), Reyes isn't currently on the 40-man roster, but Kirschner speculates that New York may end of designating Peraza for assignment, as he's out of minor-league options. If Reyes does get a spot on the Opening Day roster, he'd be unlikely to play every day but could get semi-regular opportunities given his ability to play across both the infield and outfield.

Betts (illness) completed a workout at Dodger Stadium on Monday and intends to play in Tuesday's game against the Angels, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Betts has already been ruled out for Monday's exhibition, but the fact that he's been able to keep food down and felt strong enough to complete a workout is a promising sign. If Betts is cleared for Tuesday's action, it would likely point to him being included in the starting lineup for Opening Day on Thursday, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times.

Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris said Monday that Perez is scheduled to receive an injection in his lower back this week and will be sidelined for at least a month, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

He joins Parker Meadows (arm) and Matt Vierling (shoulder) on the shelf, as the Tigers' outfield depth will really be tested early on in the season. Recently signed Manuel Margot is a new option for Detroit and the club has also brought back Ryan Kreidler from minor-league camp.
