Marlins' Tim Anderson: Placed on IL with back injury

The Marlins placed Anderson on the 10-day injured list Monday with lower-back tightness.

Anderson had missed the previous two games with the injury and evidently didn't show enough progress to avoid a stint on the IL. Because the move is backdated to Saturday, Anderson will be eligible to return from the IL in just over a week. However, it's unclear whether he'll be ready to rejoin the Miami lineup by then. Vidal Brujan is expected to serve as the Marlins' everyday shortstop while Anderson is on the shelf.

Marlins' Tim Anderson: Held out again Monday

Anderson (back) remains out of the lineup for Monday's contest against the Tigers.

Anderson is battling lower-back tightness and will miss a third straight start. The Marlins haven't indicated that a stint on the injured list might be required for Anderson, but the odds certainly increase the more time he misses. Vidal Brujan will again handle shortstop in Anderson's place while Otto Lopez covers second base.

  • Dylan Moore LF | PHI

Mariners' Dylan Moore: Swipes bag in Sunday's win

Moore went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a steal in Sunday's win over the Athletics.

Moore led things off with a base hit and stole second before eventually coming around to score on a Mitch Garver single to give the Mariners a quick lead. He later drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. It was just his third stolen base since April 24, though he's on pace for double-digit steals again after only managing seven in 67 games last season. Moore continues to see regular at-bats with J.P. Crawford (oblique) still working his way back and even works out of the leadoff spot against lefties like he did Sunday. For the year, the 31-year-old is slashing .222/.321/.411 with three homers, 13 RBI, 12 runs and an 11:28 BB:K in 106 plate appearances.

  • Cardinals' Brandon Crawford: Playing time sparse

Crawford is slashing .107/.194/.107 over 10 games with the Cardinals this season.

Crawford was signed to serve as backup to rookie Masyn Winn, who has been one of the Cardinals' better hitters. As such, Crawford has seen minimal playing time. All three of his hits this season have been singles, and he's also posted a 3:11 BB:K. The veteran shortstop is unlikely to see a larger role unless Winn suffers an injury or enters a severe slump.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Athletics' Aledmys Diaz: Plays first two rehab games

Diaz (calf) went 0-for-3 with two walks over his first two rehab games with Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday and Sunday.

Diaz has yet to play a full game, but he did take a trio of plate appearances as the designated hitter when kicking off the rehab assignment Friday. He then progressed to playing defense Sunday, logging five innings at third base in the win over Round Rock. Diaz will probably continue to be given a day off between games for the time being given his age and the length of time it's taken for him to be able to return to game action.

  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Homers early in win

Tovar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

The Rockies got to Jose Urena early in the first inning, and Tovar's blast was ultimately all they needed in the win. The shortstop has hit safely in six straight games, going 8-for-26 (.308) with four extra-base hits in that span. For the season, he's at a .266/.308/.411 with four homers, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored, three stolen bases, nine doubles and a triple over 39 contests.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Dealing with wrist injury

Kim was hit by a pitch on his left wrist in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Dodgers, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Kim took a 94 mph fastball from Walker Buehler off his left wrist in the bottom of the fourth inning, ultimately exiting the contest the following frame. The infielder underwent X-rays on his arm following the contest that came back negative, according to manager Mike Shildt, which bodes well for Kim moving forward. The 28-year-old can be considered day-to-day for the time being ahead of San Diego's three-game series with the Rockies at home beginning Monday.

  • Masyn Winn SS | STL

    Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Resting Sunday

Winn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Winn will head to the bench after he went 4-for-11 with a stolen base while starting in each of the first three games of the series. Brandon Crawford will fill in for Winn at shortstop in the series finale.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

Marlins' Tim Anderson: Out again Sunday

Anderson (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

He'll be on the bench for a second straight game and remains day-to-day with lower-back tightness. Vidal Brujan will move over from second base to replace Anderson at shortstop.

  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

Rays' Jose Caballero: Not starting Sunday

Caballero is out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Caballero struck out all four times he was at the plate in Saturday's 7-2 win and will get a day off to clear his head. Amed Rosario will serve as the Rays' starting shortstop Sunday and will bat sixth against Yankees right-hander Luis Gil.
