Elly De La Cruz SS | CIN
Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Scores three runs, swipes bag
De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with a walk, two RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Mets.
Much has been made of De La Cruz's strikeouts early on this season -- the swing-and-miss concerns are valid -- but he now has a 13-game hitting streak dating back to last season. He also has three steals in four attempts so far in 2024. The 22-year-old has been locked into the No. 6 spot in the lineup against both righties and lefties early on and looks to have some leash under manager David Bell to work out the remaining kinks in his game.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Awaiting MRI results
The Red Sox are still awaiting the results of the MRI on Story's left shoulder, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
Story is not in the lineup Saturday after exiting Friday's game with what looked like a potentially serious shoulder injury. Manager Alex Cora said Saturday that Story was "pretty sore throughout the night, during the day," but the club is waiting for MRI results before making a roster move. Pablo Reyes is starting at shortstop Saturday and David Hamilton has been added to the taxi squad.

Jacob Amaya SS | ARI
Astros' Jacob Amaya: Acquired by Houston
The Astros acquired Amaya from the Marlins on Saturday in exchange for cash considerations and Valente Bellozo, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Amaya was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Amaya, 25, is a glove-first shortstop who has mostly just kept his head above water in the minors with his bat, although he has displayed decent on-base skills. He should get regular reps at shortstop with Sugar Land and offers solid depth at the position in the event something happens to Jeremy Pena.

C.J. Abrams SS | WAS
Nationals' CJ Abrams: Day-to-day with bruised finger
Abrams is considered day-to-day due to a bone bruise of his left pinky finger, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Abrams was a late scratch from Saturday's lineup with an injury that occurred on a slide into second base Friday. Fortunately, it does not appear to be anything that could keep the young shortstop out long. Expect Abrams back in there in a day or two.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Not playing Saturday
Story (shoulder) isn't in Boston's lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels.
Story's absence Saturday isn't too surprising considering how much pain he was in as he walked off the field Friday. The Red Sox have yet to provide any details on his shoulder since then, but more information regarding the nature of his injury and a potential return timeline will likely come out in the near future.

Jose Caballero 2B | NYY
Rays' Jose Caballero: Idle Saturday
Caballero isn't in the Rays' lineup for Saturday's game versus Colorado, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Caballero has registered a base hit in six of the seven games he's played in this year, and he'll now catch a day off. Amed Rosario will get a chance to start at shortstop Saturday while batting seventh.

C.J. Abrams SS | WAS
Nationals' CJ Abrams: Scratched Saturday
Abrams was scratched from the Nationals' lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Phillies, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
The Nationals have yet to provide a reason for Abrams' removal, but he could be experiencing problems with his left hand after making a slide into second base during Friday's contest. Nasim Nunez will make his first career big-league start as Abrams' replacement, batting ninth.

Geraldo Perdomo SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Remains sidelined
Perdomo (knee) isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta.
Perdomo was removed from Wednesday's game against the Yankees due to a knee injury and reported still feeling discomfort during agility drills Friday. He's slated to receive an MRI on Saturday, and the results will reveal more about his status going forward. In the meantime, Blaze Alexander will pick up another start at shortstop and bat ninth.

Francisco Lindor SS | NYM
Mets' Francisco Lindor: Moves up to leadoff spot Friday
Lindor went 0-for-2 with a walk and an RBI in Friday's win over the Reds.
After hitting second in the Mets' first six games of the season, Lindor bumped up to the leadoff spot Friday with Brandon Nimmo (hamstring) sidelined and brought home the team's first run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Lindor's had a slow start to the campaign, going 1-for-26 (.038) with a 4:6 BB:K, but it's far too early to panic over the 30-year-old shortstop as he looks to provide an encore to his 30-30 season from 2023.

David Hamilton SS | MIL
Red Sox's David Hamilton: Set to travel with Red Sox
Hamilton is expected to join the Red Sox after Trevor Story injured his left shoulder Friday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Story left Friday's game in the top of the fourth inning after landing on his left shoulder awkwardly while attempting a diving grab. Hamilton started the season with Triple-A Worcester and has gone 3-for-18 with two home runs and two RBI. If Story is placed on injured list, Hamilton would provide depth at shortstop behind Pablo Reyes.
