Tommy Edman 3B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Three hits, two RBI in win
Edman went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double and two RBI in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Rockies.
Edman came up a home run shy of the cycle in this contest. He's gone 6-for-20 (.300) with three strikeouts over five games since returning from a wrist injury, and he's seen a starting role at shortstop with Paul DeJong traded to Toronto. Edman is slashing .241/.302/.395 with seven homers, 31 RBI, 47 runs scored and 14 stolen bases over 89 games. His starting role is likely safe for a while, but St. Louis could call up top prospect Masyn Winn before the end of the season, which would likely force Edman to switch positions yet again.

Tim Anderson 2B | LAA
White Sox's Tim Anderson: Tossed from Saturday's contest
Anderson was ejected from Saturday's game against the Guardians for his actions in a brawl during the sixth inning. He went 1-for-3 with a double prior to exiting.
Anderson and Cleveland's Jose Ramirez exchanged blows after the latter slid into second base in the seventh frame, and neither was permitted to continue in the contest. MLB will review the matter, and suspensions for both players could be in the cards.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Nearing end of rehab window
Story (elbow) will remain on assignment with Triple-A Worcester through the weekend, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
The plan calls for Story to DH on Saturday before playing shortstop for the WooSox on Sunday. Worcester is then off Monday, and Story's 20-day rehab window closes Wednesday, so the shortstop seems likely to be back with the Red Sox at some point next week. He recently expressed a desire to remain on his rehab assignment as he tries to shake the rust after the long layoff from an internal bracing procedure.

Kevin Smith DH | NYY
Athletics' Kevin Smith: Reinstated, sent to Triple-A
Smith (back) was activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday and optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The 27-year-old is fully recovered from the back strain that sent him to the injured list in mid-June, but he won't rejoin the big club now that he's healthy. Smith has appeared in 34 MLB games this season and has a .191/.216/.330 slash line and 33.3 percent strikeout rate in 102 plate appearances.

Kevin Smith DH | NYY
Athletics' Kevin Smith: Another full game on defense
Smith (back) started at second base and played the entirety of Triple-A Las Vegas' loss to Albuquerque on Friday, going 1-for-5.
Smith has now played consecutive full games on defense for the first time in his rehab assignment, seemingly teeing up a return to the big-league club. The infielder, who's been out since mid-June with a back strain, has hit .381 (8-for-21) with a double, two home runs, five RBI, a walk and four runs across six rehab games with the Aviators.

J.P. Crawford SS | SEA
Mariners' J.P. Crawford: On base three times in win
Crawford went 2-for-5 with a walk and two runs in a win over the Angels on Friday.
The Mariners put on an offensive display in the high-scoring win, and Crawford's night was actually one of the quieter ones in a game where Seattle laced eight of its 14 hits for extra bases. While Crawford didn't contribute to that total, the veteran shortstop did generate his eighth multi-hit effort since the All-Star break and set the table nicely from the top of the order. Crawford has been thriving the entire second half, as he now owns a .333/.463/.485 slash line and 16.7 percent walk rate across his last 18 games.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Tigers' Javier Baez: Could go on bereavement list
Baez was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Rays due to a death in his family, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
It remains to be seen if Baez will be placed on the bereavement list, where players are allowed to reside for 3-to-7 days. Zack Short is starting at shortstop Saturday in his place.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Tigers' Javier Baez: Scratched from Saturday's lineup
Baez was scratched from Saturday's lineup.
He was slated to bat seventh for the first time this season, but he will instead be held out. Zack Short gets the start at shortstop and Andy Ibanez was added to the lineup at second base.

Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: Pops rare homer
Berti went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Rangers.
The light-hitting utility man jumped on a Jordan Montgomery changeup in the second inning and lined it over the left-field wall for his third homer of the season. Berti's worked his way back into a consistent spot in the batting order since the All-Star break, slashing .392/.407/.569 in 17 games with three steals, six RBI and 10 runs, but as of yet he hasn't really exploited MLB's new rules to make basestealing easier. After leading the league with 41 stolen bases in 2022, the 33-year-old has only 12 in 16 attempts this season.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Homers in win
Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-2 win over Miami.
Seager pulled a Jesus Luzardo changeup 429 feet in the first inning after the Marlins jumped to a 1-0 lead in the top half of the frame. It was his second homer in three games since being activated off the injured list and seventh long ball over the last 14. The shortstop is slashing .345/.406/.636 with 17 home runs and 62 RBI over 69 games.
