  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Notches steal Friday

Adames went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 5-1 win over the Royals.

Adames went hitless for the second time in the last three games, but he was at least able to swipe his first bag since April 13. The shortstop isn't particularly speedy, but he's up to three steals in four tries this season. He's slashing .225/.321/.406 with seven home runs, 23 RBI, 20 runs scored and four doubles over 38 contests in an everyday role.

  • Red Sox's Adalberto Mondesi: No rehab assignment scheduled yet

Mondesi (knee) underwent a checkup in Boston last week, and he's still not ready to begin a rehab assignment at this time, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

The positive news is that all was OK in Mondesi's checkup, and he continues to ramp up his activities. Unfortunately for Mondesi and fantasy managers, he's still not ready to get back on the field and face live hitting, and there's no timetable for when that will occur. Mondesi is eligible to come off the 60-day injured list June 1, but it's very likely the speedy infielder will need more time before he's ready to contribute for the Red Sox.

  • Rays' Wander Franco: In Friday's lineup

Franco (neck) is in the Rays' lineup for Friday's game versus the Yankees, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Franco was forced from Thursday's game with neck spasms, but he's feeling well enough a day later to be back in action. The youngster is playing shortstop and batting second against Gerrit Cole.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Ramping up activities

Story (elbow) has been hitting and throwing at Boston's spring training complex in Florida, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Story's rehab from an internal bracing procedure of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow has gone well to this point. He's still in the relatively early stages of what will be a long road to recovery, but the infielder has a chance to join the Red Sox in the second half if he progresses as expected.

  • Pirates' Tucupita Marcano: Another start Friday

Marcano will start at shortstop and bat seventh Friday against the Orioles, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

This marks three straight starts for Marcano, alternating between short and second base. He hit his first homer of the year in Wednesday's series finale against the Rockies and the Pirates will ride the hot hand Friday in Baltimore. Ji Hwan Bae is at second and Rodolfo Castro is on the bench.

  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Dropped to seven spot

Volpe is batting seventh and starting at shortstop Friday in the Yankees' game versus the Rays.

It's Volpe's first start since April 15 in which he isn't hitting out of the leadoff spot. The rookie is just 2-for-27 over his last six games. With the Yankees' offense slumping, manager Aaron Boone has opted to change things up. Gleyber Torres is up at the top of the order Friday.

  • Pablo Reyes RF | SD

Red Sox's Pablo Reyes: Acquired by Boston

The Red Sox acquired Reyes from the Athletics on Friday in exchange for cash considerations.

The 29-year-old has slashed .257/.385/.351 with one home run and three stolen bases at the Triple-A level this season. Reyes is capable of playing all over the diamond and will give the Red Sox some utility depth at Triple-A Worcester.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Athletics' Aledmys Diaz: Making encouraging progress

Diaz (hamstring) ran before Thursday's game against the Rangers and has a chance to come off the injured list Sunday, the Associated Press reports.

The team's official site adds that manager Mark Kotsay noted Diaz has actually been able to run for the last few days without any issues. The veteran isn't expected to require a rehab assignment due to the brevity of his absence, so a return when first eligible Sunday remains very much in play.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Notches two more thefts

Witt went 0-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases Thursday in a 4-3 victory against the White Sox.

Witt went hitless for the second straight game, but he made the most of his first-inning walk by proceeding to swipe both second and third base. The speedster is up to 12 thefts on 14 attempts this season, tying him for fifth in steals in the majors. Witt has been particularly active on the basepaths this month, swiping five bags through nine contests.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Finishes triple shy of cycle

Schmitt went 4-for-4 with one double, one homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 6-2 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Schmitt was just getting started when he hammered a second-inning curveball 443 feet. He capped his night with a ninth-inning double to push the lead to 3-0. The rookie has torn up major-league pitching in his first three games. He has collected at least two hits in every game and is sporting a 2.000 OPS. Brandon Crawford is expected to return soon, but Schmitt can play all over the infield, increasing his odds of sticking around.
