  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Leaves with hamstring tightness

Seager left Tuesday's game against the Royals with left hamstring tightness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. He went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored before exiting the contest.

Seager was replaced by Josh Smith as a pinch runner after Seager appeared to tweak his hamstring. For now, the shortstop should be considered day-to-day, but the Rangers may need the 28-year-old to undergo imaging to confirm there's no structural damage.

  • Jeter Downs SS | NYY

Nationals' Jeter Downs: Recalled from Triple-A

Downs was recalled Tuesday from Triple-A Rochester.

He'll replace Ildemaro Vargas, who is going on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder strain. Downs had a rough showing in the Grapefruit League this spring and was slashing just .105/.191/.211 through 21 plate appearances this season at the Triple-A level. He has good speed and a bit of power, but the 24-year-old former Red Sox prospect probably won't offer immediate fantasy relevance -- even in deeper NL-only formats.

  • Miguel Rojas 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Returns to starting lineup

Rojas is hitting ninth and playing shortstop for Tuesday's battle against the Giants

Rojas got Monday off, as the Dodgers will limit the shortstop's innings while recovering from the groin injury that caused him to miss most of the previous week. Chris Taylor moves over to third base with Max Muncy getting Tuesday off.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Batting sixth again

Pena is down in the No. 6 spot in the Astros' lineup Tuesday versus the Pirates.

Pena struggled while batting leadoff in the first eight games of the season, so he's been moved down while Chas McCormick gets some run at the top of the order. Both players have hit well since the switch, so it figures to continue for the time being.

  • Oneil Cruz CF | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Transferred to 60-day IL

Cruz (fibula) was transferred Tuesday from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

This move clears out a 40-man roster spot for right-hander Eli Villalobos, who was claimed off waivers from the Marlins on Tuesday. Cruz is expected to be sidelined for at least the next four months after suffering a fractured fibula Sunday while sliding into home plate.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Remains out of lineup

Correa (back) remained out of the Twins' lineup for Tuesday's game versus the White Sox.

It's the second straight game that Correa has missed with a middle back spasm. The injury is considered a day-to-day situation. Kyle Farmer will fill in again at shortstop Tuesday.

  • Mikey Romero SS | BOS

Red Sox's Mikey Romero: Season delayed by back stiffness

Romero is on the 7-day injured list with Single-A Salem due to back stiffness, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.

According to Callis, Romero is expected to be activated sometime this month. Romero dealt with the back issue during spring training. The 19-year-old shortstop will look to build off his impressive 19-game pro debut from last year, where he slashed .304/.368/.506 across rookie ball and Single-A.

  • Paul DeJong SS | DET

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Struggles in Triple-A rehab game

DeJong (back) went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts Tuesday in a rehab game with Triple-A Memphis.

It was his first game at Memphis following a three-game run with Single-A Palm Beach. DeJong is 1-for-13 with six strikeouts through four total games on the farm as he aims to get right following a spring back injury. There's no exact timetable for his return to the Cardinals, and he'll probably fill a backup or utility role once he is deemed fit for MLB competition.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Returns to leadoff spot

Turner is back in the leadoff spot Tuesday versus the Marlins.

Bryson Stott took a turn at leadoff Monday, with Turner hitting second, but the Phillies will return to their typical top-of-the-order setup Tuesday against the Marlins and left-hander Jesus Luzardo. Stott is batting eighth.

  • Jose Barrero SS | BAL

Reds' Jose Barrero: Gets another start at shortstop

Barrero is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Tuesday versus Atlanta.

This is now back-to-back starts at short for Barrero, and back-to-back benchings for Kevin Newman. Neither player has been particularly productive in the early going this season.
