Soderstrom went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI in Saturday's 11-6 win over the Mets.

Soderstrom erupted for his fifth career multi-homer game as well as a season-high five RBI on Saturday. The three-hit attack was also his first of the new year, and it was the lefty-swinging slugger's fifth multi-hit effort thus far. Through 55 at-bats on the campaign, Soderstrom is hitting .236 with six extra-base knocks, 13 RBI, seven runs scored and one stolen base.

Lopez (1-1) earned the win Saturday against the Mets, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out five.

The left-hander hardly pitched well enough to warrant a victory Saturday, but the Athletics got to Mets right-hander Kodai Senga early and never relinquished the lead while tallying up 11 runs. Lopez served up a pair of home runs and issued at least three walks in his third consecutive outing to open the new campaign. Lopez has yet to give up fewer than three runs in any of his first three starts, and he'll take an ugly 7.43 ERA, 2.18 WHIP and 11:13 K:BB into a scheduled matchup with the division-rival Rangers next week.

Mountcastle, who was pulled from Saturday's game against the Giants after hitting a double in the second inning, is said to be dealing with left foot pain, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Mountcastle was replaced on second base by Dylan Beavers after the former hurt himself on a stumble and dive toward second base after hitting a double. It's not clear how serious Mountcastle's injury is, but he exited the field with a trainer by his side.

Mountcastle was removed from Saturday's matchup versus San Francisco after appearing to hurt himself while diving into second base on a hit, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mountcastle got the start at DH on Saturday -- just his second start over Baltimore's past four games -- and doubled in his first at bat in the bottom of the second inning, However, he stumbled while running to second base and appeared to hurt himself while sliding into the bag. Mountcastle was subsequently removed, and Dylan Beavers entered as the pinch runner. Details about Mountcastle's injury should emerge during or after the contest.

Casas (knee) will be "out a while" with what is now being described as a likely oblique issue, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Casas opened the season on the 10-day injured list while continuing to rehab from left knee surgery. He had been swinging a bat but was shut down in early April with what was initially deemed a left intercostal strain. Casas tried to resume swinging less than a week later, but that didn't go well, and he was consequently sent in for an MRI. While Boston is still waiting for the results of that imaging, manager Alex Cora said Saturday that the organization is now treating the issue "like an oblique, rib injury." Cora added, "He's going to be out for a while but we're still waiting for the news from the doctor."

Baltimore designated McDermott for assignment Saturday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

McDermott was unable to break camp with the Orioles and has struggled in the early going as part of Triple-A Norfolk's bullpen, allowing four earned runs and walking six batters -- albeit with nine strikeouts -- over 5.1 innings across five appearances. The right-handed hurler will now lose his spot on the 40-man roster, with catcher Maverick Handley -- who had his contract selected by the Orioles on Saturday in the wake of Adley Rutschman's placement on the 10-day IL due to a left ankle injury -- assuming that 40-man slot.

The Orioles selected Handley's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

The move comes as a result of Adley Rutschman landing on the 10-day IL due left ankle inflammation. Handley dealt with a left ankle injury of his own in late March and early April, but he returned to Norfolk's lineup Friday and will now head to the big-league club, presumably to back up Samuel Basallo behind the plate temporarily. To make room for Handley on the 40-man roster, Baltimore designated Chayce McDermott for assignment.

The Orioles placed Rutschman on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to left ankle inflammation, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Rutschman was initially deemed to be dealing with left ankle soreness when he was scratched from Saturday's lineup. The switch-hitting backstop was subsequently diagnosed with left ankle inflammation and will need to miss at least 10 days as a result. Samuel Basallo will likely handle the bulk of the catching duties during Ruschman's absence, and Baltimore selected the contract of Maverick Handley from the minors to serve as Basallo's temporary backup.

The White Sox are planning to summon Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte to serve in bulk relief against the Royals on Sunday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Cannon was unable to break camp with Chicago and has struggled in two starts with Charlotte so far, allowing seven earned runs on 12 hits while posting a 10:4 K:BB over 8.2 innings. However, the White Sox appear set to have Cannon work at least a few innings Sunday behind opener Grant Taylor. Duncan Davitt is likely to be sent down to the minors to make space on the 26-man roster for Cannon, per Fegan.

Taylor will open Sunday's series finale against Kansas City, and Jonathan Cannon is slated to be called up to work in bulk relief, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Taylor has previously opened three games for Chicago and has been effective in that role, allowing one hit while posting a 3:0 K:BB over three scoreless innings. It's not an appealing role from a fantasy perspective, however, as it removes the possibility of Taylor notching a win, hold or save. Cannon, meanwhile, is slated for his first MLB appearance of the campaign after opening the season with Triple-A Charlotte.
