Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters Monday that Barger (ankles) will start running Tuesday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Barger continues to progress in his recovery from sprained left and right ankles, and he has done enough to be cleared to start running. He may not need to embark on a rehab assignment and could be back with the Blue Jays for the start of their homestand Friday against the Guardians.

Hiraldo is scheduled to meet with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Monday to receive a second opinion on his inflamed right shoulder, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports.

Though the Orioles are still labeling Hiraldo's shoulder injury as inflammation, the team's decision to move him from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL last week would seem to suggest that he could be dealing with something more significant. After he receives a second opinion from Dr. ElAttrache, Hiraldo will decide on a treatment plan for his injury. The righty reliever made just three appearances for Baltimore before landing on the shelf.

Rivas will start at third base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Athletics.

Rivas will cover the hot corner for the third game in a row and could be in line for a regular starting role for at least the next week after Seattle placed Brendan Donovan (groin) on the 10-day injured list Monday. The 28-year-old hasn't provided much reason to get excited about his fantasy prospects; over 61 plate appearances on the season, he's hit just .143 with no home runs, no stolen bases, four runs and four RBI.

Trammell was removed from Monday's game against the Guardians in the fourth inning due to an apparent lower-body injury, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Trammell appeared to sustain the injury while running to third base and left the field with a trainer shortly after. He went 1-for-1 with a walk prior to being replaced by Cam Smith in the outfield. The Astros should have an update on Trammell's injury once he undergoes more tests.

The Mariners declined to recall Emerson from Triple-A Tacoma to take Brendan Donovan's (groin) roster spot in part because Emerson has been dealing with a wrist injury, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Emerson homered in his last game for Tacoma on Saturday but did not play in Sunday's contest. It's unclear if the top prospect will miss any additional time. The timing of the injury is unfortunate, although the Mariners might have decided against promoting Emerson even if he was healthy, as Donovan's absence is not expected to last long. Signed to an eight-year, $95 million contract extension in late March, Emerson is slashing .258/.361/.452 with two homers and six stolen bases in his first 73 plate appearances with Tacoma. The 20-year-old has a good chance to make his major-league debut in the first half, but for now he'll focus on getting healthy and returning to the Rainiers' lineup.

The Red Sox are expected to place Gray (hamstring) on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Gray was pulled from Monday's start against the Tigers in the third inning due to a right hamstring injury. He underwent imaging following his exit, and the injury appears severe enough for him to warrant a stint on the IL. Per Cotillo, the Red Sox are expected to recall Tyler Samaniego from Triple-A Worcester ahead of Tuesday's game against the Yankees. However, Payton Tolle could be called up to the majors and replace Gray in Boston's rotation for as long as the latter is sidelined.

Samaniego will absorb the roster spot vacated by the injured Sonny Gray (hamstring). The left-handed Samaniego turned in three scoreless appearances during an earlier stint with Boston, collecting a 4:3 K:BB in 3.2 innings.

Gimenez is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Angels on Monday.

Monday marks the first time this season that Gimenez will not be in the lineup. The Angels are sending southpaw Reid Detmers to the mound, and with the lefty-hitting Gimenez opening the game on the bench, the Blue Jays have shifted Ernie Clement to shortstop and will start Lenyn Sosa at the keystone. Gimenez has started the 2026 season nicely, slashing .273/.305/.455 with four steals, three home runs and 12 RBI in 83 plate appearances.

Varsho (knee) is starting in center field and batting seventh against the Angels on Monday.

Varsho missed the Blue Jays' last two games due to left knee soreness that cropped up during Friday's game against the Diamondbacks, but he has recovered enough to be in the lineup for Monday's series opener. Since April 1, Varsho has gone 14-for-47 (.298) with one steal, three home runs and six RBI.

O'Neill (concussion) did some agility work on the field at Kauffmann Stadium on Monday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

O'Neill is slowly easing back into activities as he works his way back from a concussion. He hasn't played in a game in nearly two weeks, so there's a good chance O'Neill will need a short rehab assignment before rejoining the Orioles' active roster.
