  • Tarik Skubal SP | DET

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Listed as Thursday's starter

Skubal (side) is listed as the Tigers' scheduled starter for Thursday's game against the Guardians, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Skubal had to be removed from his last start against the Marlins with left side tightness, but imaging came back clean. According to manager A.J. Hinch, Skubal threw his normal between-starts bullpen session Monday without issue, MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM reports. The Tigers will undoubtedly keep a close eye on their ace, but Skubal's fantasy managers can lock the southpaw into their lineup.

  • Bo Bichette SS | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Could be back in time for playoffs

Bichette could return in time for the postseason after a second opinion confirmed that the PCL sprain in his left knee will not require surgery, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

Bichette last played Sept. 6 and while he won't play again during the regular season, it seems there is optimism the shortstop can return in time for the playoffs. The Blue Jays have been using Andres Gimenez at shortstop of late in Bichette's stead.

  • Max Anderson 2B | DET

Tigers' Max Anderson: Putting together impressive season

Anderson is performing well in the minors this season and will play in the Arizona Fall League, where he'll focus on defense and finding a good positional fit, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Anderson has a .296 batting average, 29 doubles, 18 home runs, 82 RBI and an .830 OPS in 115 games between Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo this season. The 23-year-old, who primarily plays second and third base, has put himself into a position to potentially make his MLB debut at some point in 2026. Anderson will use the AFL assignment to focus on further developing his defensive versatility and finding the right fit, and if he continues to rake as well, his prospect stock should rise heading into next season.

  • Astros' Lance McCullers: Unlikely to return in September

Astros general manager Dana Brown said Sunday that McCullers (hand) isn't expected to return from the 15-day injured list before the end of the regular season, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. "There's a chance that this is the last that we've seen of him," Brown said. "Is it possible he could get back for the last couple games? There's probably an outside chance, but highly unlikely."

McCullers was placed on the IL on Friday due to right hand soreness, and while his injury doesn't appear to be considered serious, he looks like he'll need more than the minimum 15 days to move past the issue. Brown noted that McCullers' "name will come up" in discussions about the Astros' roster for a potential postseason run, but given how the 31-year-old righty performed as a reliever after losing his spot in the rotation in late August, it's difficult to envision Houston turning to him in the playoffs. McCullers was charged with five runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks over four innings across his three low-leverage relief appearances prior to landing on the IL.

  • Twins' Anthony Misiewicz: Ready to face hitters

Misiewicz (pectoral) is expected to throw a live batting practice session Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

If all goes well Tuesday, Misiewicz could report to Triple-A St. Paul this weekend for a rehab assignment. The reliever has been on the shelf since July 25 due to a left pectoral strain but looks like he'll have a chance to rejoin the Twins for the final week of the season.
