Ben Joyce RP | LAA
Angels' Ben Joyce: Yet to throw off mound
Joyce (shoulder) has been throwing at the Angels' facility in Arizona but has yet to resume mound work, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Joyce has been on the injured list all year while on the mend from a shoulder procedure he underwent in May 2025. He was initially cleared to begin a rehab assignment in late April but was shut down when his shoulder began failing to recover in between outings. He resumed throwing in late May, but the Angels are seemingly taking things slowly while building the 25-year-old back up. It's unclear how far away he is from beginning another rehab assignment.

Kochanowicz is slated to undergo Tommy John surgery after recently being diagnosed with a torn UCL in his right elbow, so a move to the 60-day IL was expected. Angels' Logan Porter: Contract selected
The Angels selected Porter's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old backstop will join the big club to replace Sebastian Rivero, who landed on the injured list Wednesday with a hamate fracture. Porter has slashed .241/.292/.362 with 10 RBI and nine runs in 65 plate appearances at Triple-A this season, though he hasn't played since signing a minor-league deal with the Angels last week. He isn't likely to see much playing time with the big club either behind regular starter Logan O'Hoppe.

Angels' Sebastian Rivero: Placed on injured list
The Angels placed Rivero on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left hamate fracture.
Rivero injured himself while fouling off a pitch in Tuesday's game, forcing him to make an early exit. He's scheduled to undergo surgery to repair the fracture in the near future and is expected to miss roughly four weeks, per Jack Janes of TheSportingTribune.com. Logan Porter was selected from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move and will act as the Halos' backup catcher while Rivero and Travis d'Arnaud (foot) are both on the shelf.

Parker Messick SP | CLE
Guardians' Parker Messick: Thumped by Yankees
Messick (6-3) took the loss Wednesday as the Guardians fell 8-4 to the Yankees, giving up five runs (four earned) on five hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.
While the 25-year-old southpaw was able to keep the ball in the yard, triples by Jazz Chisholm in the second inning and Trent Grisham in the sixth played big roles in a pair of three-run frames for New York. It was the first time since May 3 that Messick was tagged for more than three runs in a start, but after two stellar months to begin the season, he's kicked off June by going 0-2 in two outings with a 5.56 ERA and 8:4 K:BB in 11.1 innings. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Milwaukee.
