Caglianone (hamstring) went 4-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored in his first rehab game with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Caglianone didn't show any rust as he played in his first game in more than two weeks, picking up four singles for the Storm Chasers. The rookie also played all nine innings in right field and looks to be nearing a return to the Royals' active roster, which could come as soon as this weekend against the White Sox.

The Astros optioned Gordon to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday.

Gordon's latest stint with the big club lasted only one day, as he'll be sent down after yielding five runs (four earned) in a two-inning relief outing Tuesday versus the Red Sox. Jordan Weems is taking Gordon's spot on the roster.

Higashioka is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Higashioka was behind the dish for a night game Tuesday, so he'll get some rest during Wednesday's matinee. Jonah Heim will catch and bat eighth for the Rangers.

Tellez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Diamondbacks.

The left-handed-hitting Tellez has been the preferred option at first base against righty hurlers since the right-handed-hitting Jake Burger returned from the injured list last week. However, it will be Burger at first base and batting sixth versus Diamondbacks righty Zac Gallen on Wednesday.

Langford is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Diamondbacks due to forearm tightness, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

The Rangers don't believe Langford's forearm issue is serious, but they will have the outfielder undergo imaging just in case. Langford has been playing center field lately, but with Evan Carter (back) returning, Langford should shift back to left field against righties, once he's over his forearm issue.

The Rangers activated Carter (back) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Carter played just one rehab game with Double-A Frisco and served as the designated hitter in that contest. He had been slated to play at least one more rehab game, but with Adolis Garcia (ankle) injured, the Rangers are bringing Carter back early. Carter has been sidelined for most of this month with back spasms.

The Rangers placed Garcia on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left ankle sprain, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Garcia played the entirety of Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks, so it's unclear when he was injured. He will be eligible for activation Aug. 23, but it's uncertain at this point whether he will be ready to return on that date. Evan Carter (back) has been activated from the IL to absorb Garcia's roster spot.

Baldwin will start in right field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game versus the Tigers.

Baldwin was not in the initial lineup, but he's been subbed in for Mike Tauchman (shoulder), who was scratched. After homering in back-to-back contests last week, Baldwin has gone hitless over his last three games.

Tauchman has been scratched from Wednesday's lineup versus the Tigers due to a sore right shoulder, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

Tauchman had been set to start in right field and bat leadoff, but he's been replaced in right field by Brooks Baldwin and in the leadoff spot by Kyle Teel. The White Sox are considering Tauchman day-to-day and have no current plans to send him for imaging.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Wednesday that Bergert will remain in the rotation and start Sunday against the White Sox, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Michael Lorenzen (oblique) will rejoin the rotation Saturday, but it will be Bailey Falter -- and not Bergert -- losing his rotation spot. Bergert has allowed four runs with a 10:3 K:BB over 11.1 innings in his two starts for the Royals and boasts a 2.87 ERA across 13 appearances (nine starts) between San Diego and Kansas City in 2025.
