Wilson was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays due to right hamstring soreness, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Manager Mark Kotsay added that Wilson could also sit down Wednesday due to an early start time and an off day Thursday, though it will likely depend on how the young infielder is feeling at that point. In the meantime, Max Schuemann will start at shortstop and bat ninth for the A's on Tuesday.

The Rangers optioned Winn to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

The right-hander surrendered four runs (three earned) in his last two outings and will lose his place on the big-league roster. Winn had held his opponents scoreless prior to that and has a 1.59 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 11:8 K:BB across 17 big-league innings this year, so he should be back with the Rangers before too long.

Mahle (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The veteran right-hander has already been ruled out through the July 31 trade deadline due to a rotator cuff strain, so the move to the 60-day IL won't affect his return timeline much. Mahle will be eligible to be reinstated in mid-August, though it's unclear if he'll be ready to return at that point, especially since he's still in the midst of a rest period.

The Rangers placed Carter (personal) on the bereavement list Tuesday.

Carter has been away from the team for the past few days in order to attend his grandfather's funeral, and he's now officially been moved to the bereavement list. It was previously reported that the 22-year-old was likely to rejoin the team Wednesday, though it's unclear if that's still the expectation.

The Rangers recalled Dunning from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

The right-hander was optioned to Round Rock on Friday but will make a quick return to the majors with Evan Carter (personal) being placed on the bereavement list. Dunning has made just two appearances with the Rangers this season and has a 4.47 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 49:18 K:BB across 46.1 innings at Triple-A.

The Astros recalled Whitcomb from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

He's absorbing the roster spot vacated by the injured Jeremy Pena (rib). Whitcomb is hitless in nine at-bats with the Astros this season but has put up a .942 OPS with 19 home runs in 264 plate appearances with Sugar Land. The 26-year-old could be mixed in at a few positions in Houston.

Scherzer said he experienced some forearm tightness after his thumb began to fatigue during his start against the Yankees on Monday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The veteran right-hander apparently also dealt with the thumb fatigue during his first start off the injured list last week, though neither the Blue Jays nor Scherzer seem concerned. Still, some forearm tightness is notable for the 40-year-old, who has made just three starts this season due to the thumb issue, which he's been dealing with since 2023. For now, Scherzer seems on track to make his next turn through the rotation this weekend versus the Angels, but it's worth keeping an eye on his status.

The White Sox recalled Baldwin from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

Baldwin has slashed an ugly .211/.252/.323 during his time with the big club this season. He's posted better numbers in Triple-A and has been getting reps in center field, however, so he could help cover for the absence of Luis Robert (hamstring).

The Orioles placed Tromp (back) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

The 30-year-old is now the third catcher on Baltimore's injured list, joining Adley Rutschman (oblique) and Maverick Handley (concussion). Tromp will be eligible to be reinstated July 11, though it's unclear if he's expected to be healthy by that point. Jacob Stallings was added to the MLB roster Tuesday to serve as the backup to Gary Sanchez.

The Orioles selected Stallings' contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

The veteran backstop inked a minor-league deal with Baltimore on June 24, and he'll make his way to the majors a week later to shore up the big club's catching depth. Stallings should handle the No. 2 job behind fill-in starter Gary Sanchez with Chadwick Tromp (back) landing on the injured list.
