  • Royals' Carlos Estevez: Secures 22nd save

Estevez gave up a run on one hit in the ninth inning Friday to record his 22nd save of the season in a 6-5 win over the Padres.

A Manny Machado solo shot to lead off the ninth made things nervous for the Royals, but Estevez shook it off and got infield pop-ups from the next three batters. The 32-year-old righty now leads the majors in saves, converting six of seven chances in June while posting a 3.24 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 5:4 K:BB over 8.1 innings.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Taking seat Saturday

Wells isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Baltimore.

Wells will get a day off Saturday after going 1-for-4 in Friday's series opener. His absence will give J.C. Escarra a start at catcher.

  • Royals' Michael Lorenzen: Settles for no-decision Friday

Lorenzen came away with a no-decision in Friday's 6-5 win over the Padres, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

The right-hander left the mound after 89 pitches (60 strikes) with the Royals ahead 4-2, but Lucas Erceg coughed up the lead in the seventh inning to deny Lorenzen his fifth win. Lorenzen's control has been shaky of late, and he's issued multiple free passes in four of his last five starts, posting a brutal 7.20 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 19:12 K:BB in 25 innings over that span. He'll try to tighten things up in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Rays.

  • Luis Robert CF | BAL

White Sox's Luis Robert: Second homer of June

Robert went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Friday against the Blue Jays.

Robert cracked a 441-foot home run against Mason Fluharty in the third inning, his seventh long ball of the season. He continues to strike out an alarming clip -- he has a 35.2 percent strikeout rate in June -- but Robert has managed 10 RBI, two homers and one stolen base across his last 15 games.

  • Erik Sabrowski RP | CLE

Guardians' Erik Sabrowski: Throws on back-to-back days

Sabrowski (elbow) allowed one hit and one walk while striking out two over one scoreless inning for Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.

This marked the first time Sabrowski's thrown on back-to-back days during his rehab assignment. The left-hander is scheduled for another outing over the weekend, per MLB.com. The upcoming appearance will be his eighth overall.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Belts first career homer

Moore went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Astros.

The rookie second baseman took Bryan King deep in the seventh inning to tie the game at 2-2. It was Moore's first career homer, and the eighth overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft has started six of eight games since his promotion, batting .182 (4-for-22) with a 1:7 BB:K as he gets his bearings in the majors.

  • Paul Sewald RP | TOR

Guardians' Paul Sewald: Throws live BP

Sewald (shoulder) threw 25 pitches in a live batting practice session Friday, MLB.com reports.

Sewald threw bullpen sessions before Friday's activity, which likely signals a rehab assignment in the offing. He's been out since late April and may require a multiple outings before being activated.

  • Jo Adell RF | CLE

Angels' Jo Adell: Goes yard again Friday

Adell went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Astros.

The 26-year-old outfielder got the Halos on the board by taking Hunter Brown deep in the fourth inning. It was the third straight game with a homer for Adell, and 10 of his 16 long balls on the season have come in his last 20 contests -- a stretch in which he's slashing .279/.364/.735 with two steals, 14 runs and 17 RBI.

  • Yusei Kikuchi SP | LAA

Angels' Yusei Kikuchi: Fans nine in no-decision

Kikuchi didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Astros, giving up two runs on six hits over seven innings. He struck out nine without walking a batter.

The southpaw looked like he was headed for a disastrous outing when Jeremy Pena and Isaac Paredes launched back-to-back homers to lead off the game, but Kikuchi kept his focus and shut the door on Houston until exiting the mound after 103 pitches (69 strikes), including 33 called or swinging strikes. The quality start was his seventh of the season, and he'll take a 3.01 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 87:43 K:BB through 89.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Red Sox.

  • Bennett Sousa RP | HOU

Astros' Bennett Sousa: Collects extra-inning save

Sousa struck out one in a perfect 10th inning Friday to record his second save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Angels.

Josh Hader worked the ninth to keep the game tied at 2-2, and with Bryan Abreu having handled the eighth, Sousa got the call to close things out after Houston grabbed the lead in the top of the 10th. The southpaw's first save came in a nearly identical scenario, as he wrapped up a 10-inning win over the Guardians on June 7 after Hader got the ninth. Sousa hasn't allowed a run in June, posting a 0.31 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB in 9.2 innings, and he appears to be working his way onto the fringes of the high-leverage picture for the Astros.
