Casey Legumina RP | TB
Mariners' Casey Legumina: Shipped to Seattle
The Mariners acquired Legumina from the Reds on Monday in exchange for cash considerations.
Legumina had been designated for assignment and will now join a new 40-man roster. The 27-year-old reliever holds a 6.95 ERA and 18:11 K:BB across 22 innings covering parts of two seasons at the major-league level.

Cade Marlowe LF | SEA
Mariners' Cade Marlowe: Scrubbed from 40-man roster
The Mariners designated Marlowe for assignment Monday, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.
Seattle needed to free up a spot on its 40-man roster for the addition of Jorge Polanco (knee). Marlowe, 27, has slashed .240/.330/.406 with three homers and four steals over 109 plate appearances at the major-league level over the last two seasons. He could draw some interest on waivers.

Zach DeLoach CF | CHW
White Sox's Zach DeLoach: Designated for assignment
The White Sox designated DeLoach for assignment Monday.
The transaction frees a 40-man roster spot for Jacob Amaya. DeLoach came to the White Sox exactly one year ago in the trade that sent Gregory Santos to the Mariners. He saw 75 plate appearances with Chicago in 2024, producing just a .209/.293/.328 slash line.

Osleivis Basabe 2B | SF
Rays' Osleivis Basabe: Booted from 40-man roster
The Rays designated Basabe for assignment Monday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the newly-acquired Alex Faedo. Basabe, 24, missed a large chunk of the 2024 season with a fractured wrist, slashing just .248/.293/.336 over 66 contests during his time at Triple-A Durham. He has minor-league options left and could draw interest from a team looking for utility depth.

Alex Faedo SP | TB
Rays' Alex Faedo: Traded to Tampa Bay
The Rays acquired Faedo from the Tigers on Monday in exchange for Enderson Delgado and cash considerations, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Faedo had been removed from the Tigers' 40-man roster and will now join a new organization. The right-hander is out of minor-league options, so the Rays will need to carry him on their Opening Day roster or put him through the waivers process. Faedo has a career 5.00 ERA over 30 starts and 3.44 ERA over 34 relief appearances at the big-league level.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Yankees' Carlos Carrasco: Inks NRI deal with NYY
The Yankees signed Carrasco to a minor-league contract Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.
Carrasco made 21 starts with the Guardians last season, putting up a 5.64 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 89:33 K:BB over 103.2 innings before being removed from their 40-man roster in September. Slated to turn 38 in March, Carrasco appears to be a longshot to make the Yankees' Opening Day roster but would give them some veteran rotation insurance at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Sam Haggerty LF | TEX
Rangers' Sam Haggerty: Gets NRI from Texas
The Rangers signed Haggerty (Achilles) to a minor-league contract Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Haggerty underwent surgery last May to repair a torn right Achilles tendon and it's not clear what level of participation he'll have in spring training or the start of the season. The switch-hitting utility player has a career .263/.355/.452 batting line versus left-handed pitching, so he could fill a niche role with the Rangers eventually.

Ben Joyce RP | LAA
Angels' Ben Joyce: Appears set for closing role
Joyce is likely to open 2025 as the Angels' closer, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Joyce enjoyed a breakout season in 2024, posting a 2.08 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB over 34.2 innings across 31 appearances. He worked his way up to a high-leverage role and recorded six holds and four saves over his final 18 appearances. The right-hander certainly has closer-type stuff -- he recently said that he thinks he can top the 105.5 mph fastball he tossed against the Dodgers last year, per Bollinger -- and it appears he'll have the chance to begin 2025 in that role. The Angels don't have much in the way of closer-type arms to offer Joyce competition, so his biggest obstacle to success may be the shaky control he's demonstrated throughout his pro career and his elevated injury risk due to his unmatched velocity.

Jose Suarez RP | ATH
Angels' Jose Suarez: Likely to work in long relief
Suarez is expected to take on a long-relief role to open 2025, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Suarez has ample big-league experience as a starter, but he came out of the bullpen for 19 of his 22 outings last season. He wasn't very effective overall, as he registered an ugly 6.02 ERA and 1.61 WHIP across 52.1 frames, though he fared decently well in two starts at the end of the campaign, allowing three earned runs and posting a 10:4 K:BB over 10 innings. Nonetheless, there isn't likely to be room for Suarez to compete for a rotation role to begin 2025, as the Angels' first four spots are likely locked up and a number of more attractive options are set to compete for the fifth-starter role. As such, the lefty appears most likely to function in long relief, which further diminishes his already minuscule fantasy value.
