Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Wednesday that Barger (elbow) will fly back to Toronto soon to be examined by the medical staff before potentially beginning a rehab assignment, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

The Blue Jays initially hoped Barger would be ready for a rehab assignment last week, but he's still feeling a bit of soreness in his right elbow at times when hitting. A revised timeline pointed toward Barger kicking off his rehab assignment Thursday, but it's unclear whether that could still happen. The 26-year-old has been sidelined since mid-May due to right elbow inflammation.

The Astros recalled Gordon from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday.

The Astros were in need of bullpen reinforcements after their relievers were needed for 6.1 innings during Tuesday's extra-innings win over the Blue Jays. Gordon has been knocked around in his 9.1 frames in the majors this season, yielding 12 runs with an 11:3 K:BB.

The Astros optioned VanWey to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday.

VanWey allowed two runs (one earned) over three innings in a pair of relief appearances the last two days, so the Astros are replacing him with a fresh bullpen arm. Left-hander Colton Gordon was called up from Sugar Land to take VanWey's spot on the active roster.

Robles is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

He had started in eight of Seattle's last nine games, but Robles' run of regular playing time looks to have come to an end. Robles benefited from Randy Arozarena (hamstring), Julio Rodriguez (hamstring), Luke Raley (illness) and Dominic Canzone (hamstring) all missing time of late, but the four players will all be included in the same lineup Wednesday for the first time since June 12. Moving forward, Robles will likely draw most of his starts versus left-handed pitching while filling the short side of a platoon with either Raley or Canzone.

Walker is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Toronto.

After hitting home runs in back-to-back games in the middle of June, Walker has since gone 4-for-33 with zero RBI over the last nine contests, so he'll get a day off to regroup. Isaac Paredes will play first base Wednesday, and Raynel Delgado will cover the hot corner.

The Red Sox announced that Durbin was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rockies in the third inning due to a partial dislocation of his left pinkie finger, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Durbin went 0-for-2 before being lifted from the contest after suffering the injury while sliding into first base as he attempted to beat out an infield single. Interim manager Chad Tracy will likely elaborate further on Durbin's situation after the game, but for the time being, the 26-year-old infielder can be viewed as day-to-day. Durbin bats from the right side and throws right-handed, but the injury to his non-dominant hand could still present discomfort for him in the field and/or when he swings.

Pena (hamstring) will start at shortstop and bat third in Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Pena was forced from Monday's game with a right hamstring cramp and did not start Tuesday. However, he entered Tuesday's contest as a pinch hitter and is back in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale.

Rosario is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Detroit.

Ace lefty Tarik Skubal is on the bump for the Tigers, marking the first time all season that Rosario has not been in the lineup versus a southpaw when he was on the active roster. Jose Caballero will cover third base for the Yankees.

Durbin was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rockies prior to the bottom of the third inning due to an apparent injury, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports. He went 0-for-2 prior to leaving the game.

Though the nature of Durbin's injury isn't yet known, he appeared to get hurt while sliding into first base as he attempted to leg out an infield single in the top of the third inning. For the bottom half of the frame, Anthony Seigler slid over from second base to cover the hot corner in place of Durbin, who owns a .635 OPS on the season but had been one of the Red Sox's hottest hitters with a .317/.343/.587 slash line through his first 18 games of June heading into Wednesday. The Red Sox should have an update on Durbin's condition later in the day.

Flaherty (ankle) is expected to return from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday against the Astros, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Flaherty was sharp in his rehab start with Double-A Erie on Tuesday, striking out seven while holding the opposition to two runs over 5.2 frames. He got his pitch count up to 83, so Flaherty should be prepared for a relatively normal workload Sunday. With Keider Montero pitching well, the Tigers could stick with a six-man rotation once Flaherty returns, at least for one turn.
