Pinango went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Tigers.

The rookie outfielder took Kyle Finnegan deep in the seventh inning to get the Blue Jays on the board and give Pinango his first career homer in the majors. He's seeing regular playing time against right-handed pitching due to Addison Barger (elbow) being back on the IL, and through his first 15 games with Toronto, Pinango is slashing .364/.404/.477 with two doubles, three runs and seven RBI.

Varland (2-1) picked up the win in Saturday's 2-1 extra-inning victory over the Tigers, allowing two hits and striking out two over two scoreless innings.

Entering a tie game in the ninth inning, Varland gave up a couple singles but prevented Detroit from walking it off, and the right-hander remained on the mound after Toronto pushed across a run in the top of the 10th. Varland has reeled off nine straight appearances without giving up an earned run, and he sports a dazzling 0.38 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 34:9 K:BB over 23.2 innings on the season while converting all five of his save chances since taking over as the Jays' closer.

Miles didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Tigers, allowing two hits and two walks over 3.2 scoreless innings of relief. He struck out five.

Entering the game as the bulk reliever following opener Mason Fluharty, Miles fired an efficient 56 pitches (36 strikes) in his longest outing in the majors so far. The rookie Rule 5 pick also set a career high in strikeouts, as the Blue Jays continue to stretch him out to fill a hole in their rotation. Miles will take a 2.55 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB through 24.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to be a tough test on the road next week in Yankee Stadium.

The Angels transferred Joyce (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Saturday.

The Angels have said that they plan to slow down Joyce's rehab process after he was scratched from his scheduled rehab appearance Sunday, and his move to the 60-day IL will simply guarantee that he remains out for at least one more week. His place on the 40-man roster will be handed to Jose Siri, who was selected from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move.

The Angels optioned Teodosio to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Teodosio has been in a major slump at the plate recently, going just 2-for-14 while collecting two steals and three runs over eight games since the beginning of May. The Angels will send him to Triple-A to right the ship and bring up Jose Siri to replace Teodosio as the club's fourth outfielder.

Siri has spent the entire season in the minors, slashing .288/.353/.504 with five homers, 27 RBI, 18 runs and four steals through 140 plate appearances. His improved performance at the plate will now culminate in his promotion back to the majors to work as the Angels' bench outfielder. Bryce Teodosio was optioned to Salt Lake in a corresponding move, and Ben Joyce (shoulder) was moved to the 60-day IL to free up a 40-man spot.

Garver was scratched from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres.

The Mariners have yet to explain why they removed Garver from the starting nine, but some clarity is likely to come in the near future. While he sits on the bench Saturday, Jhonny Pereda will start at catcher and bat eighth.

It's unclear why the Mariners took Donovan out of the lineup, but the team will likely offer an explanation in the near future. In the meantime, Leo Rivas will fill the void at third base and bat eighth.

Rodriguez said Saturday that he's going to start Sunday's series finale against the Mets, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

Rodriguez was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday to take the place of Max Fried (elbow) in the Yankees' rotation. It appears the rookie right-hander won't have to wait long to make his third big-league start, as he's set to face the Mets on Sunday. Ryan Weathers had previously been in line to start that contest, so it appears he's being pushed back at least one day.

Astros manager Joe Espada said Saturday that Hader (biceps) will log at least five more rehab appearances before he's activated from the 60-day injured list, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Hader has so far made four rehab appearances -- two with Double-A Corpus Christi and two with Triple-A Sugar Land -- combining to allow three hits with a 6:1 K:BB over four scoreless innings. With five more minor-league outings to go, the veteran reliever isn't expected to come off the IL when first eligible May 24, though Espada didn't clarify when Hader is slated to be activated, though it shouldn't be too long after that date. Bryan King has been working as Houston's closer of late in Hader's stead.
