Mariners' Bryce Miller: Adds 12 pounds over offseason

Miller has added 12 pounds over the offseason and touched 98.3 mph during a recent throwing session, he posted on his X account Jan. 16.

Miller missed time on two separate occasions during the 2025 season due to a bone spur in his right elbow, though he returned to pitch down the stretch of the regular season and playoffs. The righty received a platelet-rich plasma injection for his elbow in June and was reportedly considering getting another injection this offseason, though it's unclear whether he wound up receiving one. Either way, Miller appears poised to enter spring training without restrictions, but he will be a health risk in 2026 and is coming off a 2025 campaign that saw him collect a 5.68 ERA and 74:34 K:BB over 90.1 regular-season innings.

  • Joe Ryan SP | MIN

Twins' Joe Ryan: Avoids arbitration with Twins

The Twins and Ryan avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $6.1 million contract Monday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. The deal includes a $13 million mutual option for 2027.

Ryan's $6.1 million salary for 2026 is right at the midpoint of the figures the two sides exchanged earlier this month, and he's guaranteed an additional $100,000 in the form of a buyout of his 2027 option. The right-hander posted a 3.42 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 194:39 K:BB across 171 innings in 2025. The Twins reportedly have pulled Ryan off the trade market for this offseason, but his name is likely to come up again during this year's trade deadline, if he's healthy and pitching well.

  • Nick Sandlin RP | LAA

Angels' Nick Sandlin: Inks NRI deal with Angels

The Angels signed Sandlin (elbow) to a minor-league contract Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Sandlin was limited to only 19 appearances in 2025 for the Blue Jays due to elbow trouble, with the last of those outings coming before the All-Star break. It's unclear whether he will have restrictions in spring training, but Sandlin boasts a career 3.19 ERA and 27.3 percent strikeout rate, so he'll have a good shot to make the Opening Day roster, if healthy.

  • Trey Mancini 1B | LAA

Angels' Trey Mancini: Grabs minor-league deal from Angels

The Angels signed Mancini to a minor-league contract Monday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

He'll be reunited with new Angels hitting coach Brady Anderson, who Mancini credits with remaking his swing when he was in the minor leagues with the Orioles. Mancini slashed .308/.373/.522 with 16 homers in 74 games last season at Triple-A Reno in the Diamondbacks organization. He has not played in the majors since 2023.

  • Dylan Coleman RP | NYY

Yankees' Dylan Coleman: Signs with Yankees

Coleman signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Jan. 17.

Coleman made 11 appearances in the Orioles' minor-league system last season, posting a 4.91 ERA and 1.84 WHIP over 14.2 innings between Double-A and Triple-A before being released in mid-May. He'll get a chance to bounce back with the Yankees but doesn't project as anything more than organizational depth.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Signs seven-year extension

Ramirez signed a seven-year, $175 million contract extension with the Guardians on Saturday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Ramirez still had three years left on the seven-year deal he signed with Cleveland prior to the 2022 season, but his new contract will ensure he remains with the Guardians through 2032. The 33-year-old third baseman has proven to be well worth the investment, as he's reached 150 games played in each of the past five seasons while averaging 31.6 homers, 102.4 RBI, 101 runs and 32 steals per year in that span.

  • Chad Wallach C | ATH

Athletics' Chad Wallach: Lands with A's on MiLB deal

Wallach signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics on Sunday.

Wallach spent time with the Rangers' and Angels' Triple-A affiliates in 2025 and slashed .248/.319/.430 with 43 RBI and 33 runs scored across 259 plate appearances. The 34-year-old backstop hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2023, and he'll likely remain a depth piece at Triple-A Las Vegas in 2026.

  • Pierson Ohl RP | COL

Twins' Pierson Ohl: Removed from 40-man

The Twins designated Ohl for assignment Friday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Ohl will give up his spot on the 40-man roster for Taylor Rogers, whose signing became official Friday. Ohl broke into the majors for the first time in 2025 but produced mixed results, finishing with a 5.10 ERA and 1.50 WHIP through 30 innings with the Twins. He showed promise in the minors while posting a 2.58 ERA and 0.99 WHIP over 66.1 frames between Double-A and Triple-A, so he could still land on another team's 40-man roster.

  • Twins' Jhonny Pereda: Designated for assignment

The Twins designated Pereda for assignment Friday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

The 29-year-old backstop will be replaced on Minnesota's 40-man roster by Victor Caratini, whose signing became official Friday. Pereda slashed .246/.325/.333 in 2025 across 78 MLB plate appearances split between the Athletics and Twins. However, he finished the minor-league season with an .887 OPS across 192 plate appearances at Triple-A, which could be enough for another team to pick him up off waivers.

  • Jhonathan Diaz RP | SEA

Mariners' Jhonathan Diaz: Booted from 40-man roster

The Mariners designated Diaz for assignment Friday, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

With Cooper Criswell coming over from the Mets in a trade, Diaz will give up his place on the Mariners' 40-man roster. The 29-year-old southpaw made just one appearance with the Mariners near the start of the 2025 regular season, allowing one hit and striking out one batter over 1.1 innings. He spent the rest of the season at Triple-A Tacoma and turned in a 4.15 ERA and 1.32 WHIP across 138.2 frames.
