Clarke (foot) has begun a running and hitting progression, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Clarke has been out for the past two weeks with a bone bruise in his right foot but is ready to start ramping up his rehab. There remains no timetable for the outfielder's return to the active roster, and he will likely require a rehab assignment before being activated.

Torres (side) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

The veteran second baseman is sitting for a third consecutive game after exiting Saturday's contest due to left side tightness. According to Chris McCosky of The Detroit News, Torres said he's feeling better and plans to do some baseball work pregame Tuesday, which could allow him to be available off the bench.

Springer (foot) is batting leadoff as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Rays.

The 36-year-old hasn't seen the field since being hit by a pitch during Saturday's game against the Twins, but he's ready to rejoin the lineup after sitting out two games. In four games since returning from a fractured big toe, Springer has gone 4-for-12 with an RBI.

The Royals optioned Black to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Black turned in four scoreless relief appearances after being promoted, but despite that he finds himself headed back to the minors. Stephen Kolek (oblique) is back from the injured list to take Black's roster spot.

The Royals activated Kolek (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Kolek is set to make his season debut for the Royals with a start Tuesday versus the Guardians, slotting in as a replacement for Noah Cameron (back). Out since spring training with an oblique strain, Kolek posted a 2.76 ERA and 14:4 K:BB over 16.1 innings in four rehab starts with Triple-A Omaha. He threw 72 pitches in his final rehab appearance, so he could be limited slightly from a workload perspective Tuesday.

Guerrero is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.

It's the first game off of the season for Guerrero, who has struggled a bit since the start of May, going 3-for-17 with two walks, an RBI and three runs. Lenyn Sosa will pick up a start at first base Tuesday for the Blue Jays.

Bremner was removed from a start with High-A Tri-City after 1.1 innings Tuesday due to fatigue brought on by illness, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Bremner has been under the weather lately, and it affected his stamina Tuesday. He will rest up and should be fine for his next outing. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, Bremner holds a 1.50 ERA and 28:6 K:BB over 18 innings with Tri-City this season.

The Tigers designated Short for assignment Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The 30-year-old was added to the big-league roster Sunday and will quickly be removed with Zach McKinstry (hip) coming off the injured list. Short appeared in two games during his brief time with the Tigers and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout while also committing an error.

The Tigers reinstated McKinstry (hip) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

McKinstry landed on the shelf in mid-April due to hip inflammation, and he's now rejoining the Tigers after going 1-for-11 with a homer during a three-game rehab assignment. Manager A.J. Hinch said earlier in the day that the veteran utility man will be in the lineup for Tuesday's matchup with the Red Sox, but the Tigers have yet to officially release their starting nine for the contest.

The Rays placed Matz on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with left elbow inflammation, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

The injury seemingly came out of nowhere, as Matz had authored two straight quality starts, including tossing six innings of one-run ball against the Giants on Sunday. It's unclear whether he will undergo any additional testing, but even in a best-case scenario, Matz is likely looking at longer than a minimum 15-day absence. Joe Boyle (elbow) and Mason Englert (forearm) are both starting rehab assignments Wednesday and are options to take Matz's rotation spot when they're ready, but the club will need someone else to slot into the rotation this weekend in Boston.
