Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that Lauer is an option to start Wednesday's game versus the Red Sox in place of the injured Max Scherzer (forearm/ankle), Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The Blue Jays announced over the weekend that Lauer would shift to the bullpen to accommodate the return of Trey Yesavage (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list. Lauer has yet to make a relief appearance since that announcement, and he could immediately slide back into the rotation when Scherzer's turn comes up. Any reappointment to the rotation could be short-lived for Lauer, however, with Jose Berrios (elbow) nearing a return from the injured list. The left-handed Lauer owns a 6.75 ERA and 1.54 WHIP alongside a 19:12 K:BB across 22.2 innings this season.

Grissom will start at second base and bat third in Monday's game against the White Sox, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Grissom is coming off a big weekend series in Kansas City, where he went 5-for-8 with three doubles and one run while starting in two of the three contests. Both of those starts came against left-handed pitching, and he'll remain in the lineup Monday while Chicago sends southpaw Anthony Kay to the bump. Grissom looks poised to continue holding down the short side of a platoon at the keystone with Adam Frazier.

Teodosio will start in left field and bat ninth in Monday's game against the White Sox, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Teodosio will be included in the lineup for the fifth time in six games, but all of those starts have come against left-handed pitching. He'll likely be stuck in the short side of a platoon in the Los Angeles outfield so long as Josh Lowe is healthy.

Lowe will take a seat for the fifth time in six games, with each of his absences coming against left-handed starting pitchers. In an effort to optimize Lowe's production, the Angels seem content to continue deploying the left-handed-hitting outfielder in the strong side of a platoon with Bryce Teodosio.

Springer ran the bases and hit on the field Monday at Rogers Centre and will do the same thing Tuesday. As long as he comes out of that workout with no setbacks, his activation from the 10-day injured list will be imminent. Springer has been sidelined for the last two-plus weeks with a fractured left big toe.

Moncada is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Moncada is a switch hitter, but since he's been far more productive against right-handers (112 wRC+) than left-handers (91 wRC+) throughout his career, the Angels have been deploying him as a strong-side platoon player. He'll hit the bench Monday for the fifth time in six games, with each of his absences coming against lefty starters.

Frazier is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

The Angels are facing a left-handed starting pitcher (Anthony Kay) for the fifth time in six games, and the left-handed-hitting Frazier's lone start during that stretch has come against a right-hander. Frazier looks poised to remain in a strict platoon at second base with the right-handed-hitting Vaughn Grissom, who will occupy the keystone Monday.

Gimenez is out of the lineup for the second straight game, and though Schneider didn't offer any specifics on what's ailing the 27-year-old, the issue appears to be a minor concern. The Blue Jays are facing a left-handed starting pitcher (Ranger Suarez) on Monday, which may have factored into the decision to hold the left-handed-hitting Gimenez out of the lineup. Ernie Clement will slide over from his usual spot at second base to cover shortstop in Gimenez's stead.

Acuna is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

On the bench for a fifth straight matchup versus a right-handed starting pitcher (Jack Kochanowicz), Acuna appears to have moved into the short side of a platoon in center field with the left-handed-hitting Tristan Peters. Acuna has actually fared better against righties than lefties this season, but he's still slashing just .205/.294/.227 across 52 plate appearances versus same-handed pitching. The 24-year-old has no minor-league options remaining, which may be the only reason the White Sox haven't yet demoted him to Triple-A Charlotte.

Peters will start in center field and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Angels.

Peters has now started in six straight matchups versus right-handed pitchers and appears to have settled into the strong side of a platoon in center field with Luisangel Acuna. Over the past week, Peters went 7-for-17 with a triple, a stolen base, an RBI and a run.
