Ortiz is out of the lineup for Friday's contest in Miami.

It's a routine day off for Ortiz, who had started each of the last five games. David Hamilton will occupy shortstop and bat ninth for the Brewers in Friday's series opener.

Young is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Giants.

Young was hit on the right hand by a pitch in Thursday's win over the Pirates, but he remained in that contest and it's not the reason he's out of Friday's lineup, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports. Joey Wiemer is starting in center field Friday, but Young should be available off the bench.

Goodman is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest against the Dodgers.

Goodman started each of the final five games during the Rockies' road trip, so he will receive some well-earned rest as the team returns to Coors Field to begin a homestand. Brett Sullivan will do the catching and bat sixth for Colorado.

Castro (hand) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Dodgers.

Castro had to be pulled from Wednesday's game in Houston after being hit on the right hand by a pitch and did not play in Thursday's contest. X-rays came back clean and he's day-to-day, though it's unclear whether Castro will be available off the bench Friday. Edouard Julien will handle second base again for the Rockies.

The Brewers optioned McGee to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

McGee had been recalled a week ago and made one scoreless appearance during his brief time in the majors. His roster spot will be filled by Coleman Crow, who will start Friday's game against the Marlins.

Crow is set to make his major-league debut with a start Friday in Miami. The 25-year-old missed most of 2023 and 2024 due to Tommy John surgery and a large portion of 2025 with a hip issue and a flexor strain. He's healthy now and was off to a nice start at Nashville, boasting 18:5 K:BB over 15.2 innings along with a 4.02 ERA. It could just be a spot start for Crow, as Kyle Harrison (knee/wrist) is expected to be ready to slot back into the Brewers' rotation next week.

The Nationals optioned Ribalta to Triple-A Rochester on Friday.

The transaction comes one day after Ribalta recorded his first career save in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Pirates. Ribalta is clearing out to make room on the roster for Richard Lovelady, who was acquired via trade Thursday.

Bailey is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Nationals.

Giants manager Tony Vitello hinted Thursday that he might start deploying a timeshare at catcher. A day later, Daniel Susac will do the catching for ace Logan Webb. Bailey is slashing just .128/.180/.128 with zero extra-base hits in 2026.

The Padres optioned Jacob to Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Matt Waldron (lower body), who will start Friday's game versus the Angels after being activated from the injured list. Jacob had just been recalled earlier this week and turned in a scoreless outing in his lone appearance out of the bullpen.

Waldron is set to make his season debut Friday with a start on the road against the Angels. The knuckleballer got a late start to the season after having hemorrhoid surgery in late February, but he looked sharp in a rehab assignment at Triple-A El Paso, tossing 12 scoreless innings with a 12:1 K:BB. Waldron will have the opportunity to make additional starts for the Padres if he pitches well.
