McCarthy is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

The Rockies have faced right-handed starters in every game so far this season, but that hasn't been enough for the left-handed-hitting McCarthy to hold down a full-time role. After struggling to a .120/.185/.200 batting line through his first 28 plate appearances with the Rockies, McCarthy will stay on the bench for a second straight game. The slumping Jordan Beck (.268 OPS in 27 plate appearances) will also hit the bench, with both he and McCarthy having started to cede more opportunities to Troy Johnston and Edouard Julien.

Castro is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Castro will head to the bench for the first time in 2026 after making starts at all four infield spots through Colorado's first 11 games of the season. With Castro bowing out of the lineup for the series finale, Edouard Julien will enter the starting nine at the keystone.

Freeman (back) will start at designated hitter and will bat second in Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Freeman experienced lower-back tightness leading up to Sunday's 4-1 win over the Phillies, resulting in him being scratched from the lineup. He went unused off the bench in the first two games of the Rockies' series versus Houston, but after healing up from the back issue, Freeman will take back a spot in the starting nine in a non-defensive role. Now healthy, Freeman is likely to serve as a short-side platoon player for Colorado and will be an option at multiple infield and outfield spots.

Kim is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Since receiving a call-up from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, Kim has started at shortstop in two of the Dodgers' ensuing four games and has gone 3-for-7 with a double, two walks and three runs. Miguel Rojas will get the nod at shortstop Wednesday, but as the left-handed option of the two, Kim could see the larger share of starts at the position until the Dodgers get Mookie Betts (oblique) back from the injured list.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Manaea will remain in the team's bullpen for the time being, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The Mets are in the midst of nine straight games without an off day, and Mendoza had mentioned previously that he would use this stretch to insert a sixth starter into the rotation. However, he feels good about where his starting five is at, so the Mets will keep the status quo for now. Manaea has made two relief appearances this season, allowing just one run with a 4:4 K:BB over five innings of work.

Lantigua is staying back in extended spring training as he rehabs a core muscle injury, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.

Lantigua likely would have been assigned to Single-A if he were healthy at the end of spring training, but he may now use the beginning of the Florida Complex League season as a rehab assignment before making his full-season debut. He slashed .288/.433/.399 with three home runs and 13 steals in 49 FCL games in 2025.

Nunez went 0-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

The 25-year-old switch hitter continues to make an impact on the basepaths while seeing consistent playing time, going 7-for-7 on steal attempts in his first nine games of 2026. Nunez isn't doing much else, however, slashing .200/.282/.200 with three RBI and four runs while mainly hitting toward the bottom of the Nationals' lineup. While Washington seems comfortable with his defense at second base, Nunez may need to provide more overall offense to hang onto a starting job.

Wood went 2-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run, two additional runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

The 23-year-old slugger took southpaw Matthew Liberatore deep in the third inning, giving Wood a homer in three straight games. He's struggled a bit at the plate to begin the season, striking out 18 times in 11 games, but Wood is finding his form and is slashing .191/.309/.511 with three doubles, four home runs, one steal, 10 RBI and 11 runs.

Abrams went 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two stolen bases in Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

The Nationals ran wild in this one, going 6-for-6 on SB attempts off Pedro Pages and Yohel Pozo with Abrams leading the way. The 25-year-old shortstop is teasing a breakout campaign. slashing .308/.413/.615 through 10 games with four homers, four steals, eight runs and 14 RBI.

Bohm (groin) will start at third base and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game versus the Giants.

Bohm was held out of action Tuesday due to some minor groin tightness, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go in Wednesday's series finale after one day of rest. The 29-year-old sports a .205/.295/.308 batting line with one home run and a 4:5 BB:K across his first 44 plate appearances this season.
