  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Idle for series opener Monday

Tovar is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Cole Carrigg will draw the start at shortstop while Tovar retreats to the bench for the Rockies' series opener in Arizona. Tovar had started in each of the last seven games, going 8-for-24 with one home run, one double, two walks, five runs and three RBI.

  • Bryan Torres LF | STL

Cardinals' Bryan Torres: Excluded from lineup Monday

Torres is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

Jose Fermin will receive the nod in left field while Torres heads to the bench for the series opener. With the Cardinals moving Lars Nootbaar to the Diamondbacks a week ago, Torres has settled in as the team's primary option in left. Torres occupied that spot in the outfield in six of St. Louis' previous seven games, going 3-for-19 with three walks, two runs and one RBI.

  • Kade Strowd RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Kade Strowd: Sent down to Triple-A

The Diamondbacks optioned Strowd to Triple-A Reno on Monday.

Arizona called Strowd up from Triple-A on Friday, but he didn't end up pitching out of the bullpen during the team's weekend series against the Dodgers. He'll head back down to Triple-A, where he's submitted a 6.63 ERA and 1.85 WHIP over 36.2 innings. In a corresponding move, Arizona reinstated Michael Soroka (glute) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Monday against Colorado.

  • Mike Soroka SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Michael Soroka: Reinstated from injured list

The Diamondbacks reinstated Soroka (glute) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start against the Rockies on Monday.

Soroka needed just one rehab start before being cleared to return to the Diamondbacks' rotation. Monday's start will be his first in the majors since June 19, as he's spent the last few weeks on the IL due to a left glute strain, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Soroka operate on a pitch count in his return. He has a 3.07 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over 82 innings this season.

  • Edmundo Sosa LF | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Filling in for resting Turner

Sosa will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Sosa will pick up his first start in a week, stepping into a spot in the middle infield in place of a resting Trea Turner. The 30-year-old has seen most of his opportunities against left-handed pitching this season, but he'll draw a rare start against a righty (Hunter Dobbins) in the series opener in St. Louis.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Idle again Monday

Campusano is not in San Diego's starting lineup against Milwaukee on Monday.

For a second consecutive day, Campusano will be on the bench while Freddy Fermin starts behind home plate, with the latter forming a battery with Casey Mize. Campusano has gone 13-for-45 (.289) with five RBI since the All-Star break.

  • Alec Bohm 3B | PHI

Phillies' Alec Bohm: Resting up Monday

Bohm is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Bohm drew two walks and recorded two base hits Sunday against the Blue Jays, but after playing all 12 innings of the Phillies' 7-6 win, he'll be given a breather as Philadelphia opens up a three-game set in St. Louis. Kyle Schwarber will step in at first base in place of Bohm, who has gotten on base in each of his first eight starts of August.

  • Kodai Senga RP | NYM

Mets' Kodai Senga: Closer candidate with Williams out

Senga is a candidate to see save opportunities while Devin Williams (shoulder) is sidelined, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The Mets do not expect Williams to be out long with his right shoulder strain, but he will miss at least the next couple weeks after landing on the 15-day injured list Monday. Senga has been used primarily as a reliever since the beginning of July, and he's logged two scoreless outings in short relief this month. Daniel Duarte is also a candidate for saves, but the Mets aren't expected to name a closer while Williams is shelved.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Night off Monday

Realmuto is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Realmuto will be one of three Phillies regulars on the bench for the series opener in St. Louis, as shortstop Trea Turner and first baseman Alec Bohm will also get the evening off. Garrett Stubbs will check in for Realmuto behind the plate and will bat ninth.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Not in Monday's lineup

Bogaerts is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the Brewers on Monday.

Bogaerts will take a seat after going 0-for-11 with two strikeouts during the Padres' weekend series against the Astros. Sung-Mun Song will start at shortstop Monday and bat ninth.
