Alvarez (finger) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

As expected, Alvarez rejoins the active roster after being sidelined with a sprained right thumb and a fractured left index finger, the latter of which occurred in a rehab game. The Mets optioned Hayden Senger to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.

Suero reported to the Mets on Friday.

Suero was claimed off waivers by the Mets from Atlanta on Thursday, and he'll report to the big-league club ahead of Friday's game against Cincinnati. Suero logged a 1.35 ERA and a 59:13 K:BB across 46.2 innings of relief with Atlanta's Triple-A affiliate before being DFA'd earlier this week.

The Marlins will recall Acosta from Triple-A Jacksonville before Friday's contest against the Phillies, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.

Acosta will take the roster spot vacated by the injured Connor Norby (undisclosed) and could see ample playing time at third base, at least until Graham Pauley (oblique) returns. The 22-year-old Acosta went went just 4-for-24 during his nine games with the big club, though three of those hits left the ballpark. Acosta has slashed .229/.315/.377 with 13 homers and 31 steals this season with Jacksonville.

The Marlins will place Norby on the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game versus the Phillies with an undisclosed injury, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.

It's not clear what injury Norby is dealing with, but he was removed late from the Marlins' last game Wednesday against the Nationals. The Marlins should have more on his status soon. Maximo Acosta will replace Norby on the roster and could be the team's primary third baseman until Graham Pauley (oblique) returns. Norby has been limited to only 77 games this season due to injuries.

The Mets optioned Senga to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Senga has struggled since the All-Star break, posting a 0-3 record, a 6.56 ERA and a 35:22 K:BB across eight starts spanning 35.2 innings. Amid Senga's struggles, manager Carlos Mendoza hinted Sunday that the Mets could look elsewhere for starts as they push for a playoff spot. Not only will Senga lose his spot in the rotation, but he's also agreed to a demotion as he tries to regain his form. Wander Suero will join the big-league club in a corresponding move. Per Andy Martino of SNY.tv, the Mets are hoping to recall Senga after a couple starts with Syracuse, though that will depend on how he fares.

Contreras' suspension for his actions in the Cardinals' Aug. 25 games versus the Pirates has been reduced from six games to four games and he will begin serving the suspension Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Contreras was tossed from the game after arguing about the strike zone and then tossed his bat in the direction of the home-plate umpire, striking hitting coach Brant Brown instead. He'll sit out the weekend series against the Giants and the first game of next week's series versus the Mariners before being reinstated Tuesday. With Contreras unavailable and Alec Burleson (wrist) on the 10-day injured list, the Cardinals don't have a traditional first baseman on the active roster. The club could elect to shift Nolan Gorman to first base and play Cesar Prieto or Jose Fermin at third base for the next four contests.

Ruiz (concussion) will remain on his rehab assignment through the weekend, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reported Friday.

Ruiz is working his way back from a concussion he sustained in early July and is nearing reinstatement from the IL. The catcher is slated to catch seven innings Friday, DH on Saturday and then catch a full nine innings Sunday. Given his progression, it wouldn't be surprising to see Ruiz back with the Nationals early next week.

Kelly is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest against the Nationals.

Kelly didn't start Wednesday's game versus Atlanta, either, prior to Thursday's team off day, so he's getting some extended rest. Reese McGuire will do the catching and bat ninth for the Cubs on Friday.

Tucker (calf) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Nationals.

Tucker hasn't played since exiting Tuesday's contest against Atlanta with left calf tightness. Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Friday that the team is hoping Tucker can return to the lineup sometime this weekend, perhaps in the designated hitter spot, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. Willi Castro will be in right field for Chicago in Friday's series opener.

Susana has been diagnosed with a right lat strain, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Susana had to be removed from his last start at Double-A Harrisburg with the injury. He will meet with the Nationals' medical staff soon to discuss his options, but the injury will likely prevent Susana from pitching again this season. The 21-year-old has collected a 3.51 ERA and 95:34 K:BB over 56.1 innings covering 14 starts between High-A Wilmington and Harrisburg in 2025. Susana previously missed time this season due to a sprained elbow.
