  • Keaton Winn RP | SF

Giants' Keaton Winn: Blows save Monday

Winn (2-2) blew the save and took the loss Monday against the Nationals. He allowed three runs on three hits and a hit-by-pitch while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.

After eight brilliant innings from Logan Webb, Winn was unable to protect a two-run lead, allowing a two-run single to CJ Abrams and a go-ahead single to Daylen Lile before being lifted with one out remaining in the frame. Other high-leverage relievers Caleb Kilian and Erik Miller were presumably unavailable after pitching in each of the previous two games, making Winn the logical choice for the save opportunity. The 28-year-old now owns a 3.23 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB while converting one of two save opportunities across 30.2 innings.

  • Logan Webb SP | SF

Giants' Logan Webb: Superb across eight frames

Webb did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing one run on five hits and no walks over eight innings against the Nationals. He struck out seven.

Webb was masterful, logging a season-high eight innings and putting himself in line for the win before Keaton Winn imploded in the ninth frame. Since returning from the injured list May 29, Webb has dazzled to a 0.93 ERA and 0.67 WHIP across 19.1 innings in three starts. The right-hander will look to maintain this stellar form in his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Sunday against the Cubs.

  • Miles Mikolas RP | WAS

Nationals' Miles Mikolas: Solid in bulk relief Monday

Mikolas allowed three hits and no walks while striking out two over 4.2 scoreless innings of bulk relief Monday against the Giants.

Entering in the second inning following opener Richard Lovelady, Mikolas didn't miss many bats but kept the Giants' offense off the board before exiting after 54 pitches (41 strikes). It was a nice rebound outing after he surrendered six runs across six frames in his previous start against the Marlins, though the right-hander's season numbers remain quite poor. Mikolas will take a 1-5 record with a 5.90 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 61 innings (14 appearances) into his next outing, which is tentatively scheduled for Sunday against the Mariners.

  • Samad Taylor LF | SD

Padres' Samad Taylor: Key contributor in win

Taylor went 2-for-4 with three RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's win over Cincinnati.

Taylor came through in the late stages of Monday's win, giving San Diego the lead on an RBI bunt single in the seventh inning before depositing a two-RBI single into left field in the eighth frame to extend the lead. The 27-year-old was called up Wednesday from Triple-A El Paso and hasn't found much success in prior major-league opportunities, but he could receive some looks in left field due to Ramon Laureano (hip) being expected to miss the remainder of the season.

  • Padres' Freddy Fermin: Blasts another homer Monday

Fermin went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an RBI single in Monday's 6-2 win over the Reds.

Fermin opened the scoring, lofting an Andrew Abbott curveball over the left-field wall for a solo homer. After failing to go deep in his first 45 appearances of the season, Fermin has now homered in three consecutive games. The recent power surge is certainly encouraging, though the catcher's overall body of work remains underwhelming. Across 130 plate appearances, the 31-year-old is slashing .161/.250/.286 with eight extra-base hits, 11 RBI and 14 runs scored.

  • Andrew Abbott SP | CIN

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Fades late in fourth loss

Abbott (4-4) took the loss Monday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over six-plus innings against San Diego. He struck out six.

Abbott was sharp across the first six frames, with his lone blemish being a solo homer by Freddy Fermin in the third inning. Manager Terry Francona elected to send the southpaw back out for the seventh inning, but Abbott was unable to record an out in the frame, allowing doubles to Xander Bogaerts and Gavin Sheets before exiting with both runners coming around to score and give San Diego the lead. While the end result Monday was disappointing, Abbott has righted the ship after a miserable start to the season, posting a 2.48 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 40 innings over his past seven starts. The 27-year-old is tentatively lined up to take the ball Sunday against Arizona.

  • Padres' Walker Buehler: Mitigates damage in 4.2 frames

Buehler did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing one run on eight hits and two walks over 4.2 innings in a 6-2 victory over the Reds. He struck out four.

Buehler allowed plenty of traffic on the bases, which prevented him from working deep into the contest, though the right-hander was able to limit the damage before exiting with one out remaining in the fifth inning. It hasn't always been pretty, but the 31-year-old has quietly allowed two or fewer runs in five of his past six starts. Buehler will carry a 3-3 record with a 4.33 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 53:22 K:BB across 62.1 innings (13 starts) into his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Sunday against the Orioles.

  • Jhoan Duran RP | PHI

Phillies' Jhoan Duran: Secures 16th save

Duran earned a save over the Blue Jays on Monday, allowing one hit over a scoreless inning.

Duran had a three-run lead to work with when he entered in the ninth frame and needed just nine pitches to record three outs. The fireballing right-hander notched his eighth straight scoreless outing, and he's converted all 16 of his save opportunities this season. Duran recorded a career-high 32 regular-season saves last year, and he's currently on pace to exceed that mark. His 1.25 ERA and 0.83 WHIP are also tracking toward career-best numbers.

  • Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez: Fans 10 in victory

Sanchez (8-2) earned the win over Toronto on Monday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters over seven innings.

Sanchez kept the Blue Jays at bay throughout most of his outing, though Ernie Clement took him deep for a solo shot in the fifth inning. That snapped Sanchez's streak of seven straight starts with no homers allowed, but despite that hiccup Sanchez was once again dominant, racking up 17 swinging strikes and finishing with his fourth double-digit punchout performance of the campaign. Remarkably, the two runs Sanchez surrendered Monday were more than he had given up across his previous six starts combined, which is a testament to the magical season he's putting together. The 29-year-old ranks second among MLB qualified pitchers with both a 1.54 ERA and 113 strikeouts over 93.1 innings spanning 14 starts.

  • Brewers' Carlos Rodriguez: Lands on injured list

The Brewers placed Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list Monday due to a right shoulder impingement, MLB.com reports.

Milwaukee optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville on May 31, but he hadn't made an appearance since being demoted and has now been moved to the IL retroactive to that date. Rodriguez will be eligible for activation June 15, but whenever he's reinstated, Milwaukee is likely to option him back to Triple-A.
