Ildemaro Vargas 1B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ildemaro Vargas: Moves to short Saturday
Vargas started at first base and went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Padres.
Vargas extended his season-opening hit streak to 19 games (.351/.368/.649) with a second-inning single. He later moved to shortstop when Geraldo Perdomo (ankle) was removed in the seventh inning. Either Vargas or Jose Fernandez could fill in for Perdomo, if the injury prevents him from playing Sunday.

Lourdes Gurriel LF | ARI
Diamondbacks' Lourdes Gurriel: Hitless in return to lineup
Gurriel started in left field and went 0-for-4 in Saturday's 6-4 loss to San Diego.
Gurriel returned to the lineup after getting a two-day breather (including an off-day for Arizona), but his bat remained cold. The outfielder, who was 1-for-16 before the break, extended a hitless run to 13 consecutive at-bats. He's yet to barrel up a pitch and owns a 13.3 hard-hit percentage, suggesting he doesn't have his swing timing down.

Diamondbacks' Alek Thomas: Belts homer in loss
Thomas went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Padres.
Thomas finished off the Diamondbacks' four-run second inning to take an early lead, but the offense was shut down the rest of the way. It was the second home run in three games for Thomas, who is not known for his power. He did, however, knock an extra-base hit for a sixth consecutive game, during which Thomas is 8-for-22 with four doubles, two home runs and five RBI.

Seiya Suzuki RF | CHC
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Logs three hits, including homer
Suzuki went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Dodgers on Saturday.
Suzuki kicked off the scoring in the contest with a second-inning solo homer off Roki Sasaki. The 31-year-old outfielder finished with three hits for his fourth multi-hit performance over his past five contests. Suzuki has gone 10-for-20 with four homers and six RBI over that red-hot span, bringing his season OPS from .629 up to 1.003.

Andy Pages CF | LAD
Dodgers' Andy Pages: Knocks in three runs Saturday
Pages went went 2-for-5 with a double, a run and three RBI in a 12-4 victory versus the Cubs on Saturday.
Pages had a big hand in Los Angeles' six-run fourth inning with a run-scoring single. He added another pair of RBI with a double in the sixth. Pages began the campaign on fire but had been slowing down of late entering Saturday, batting just .120 (3-for-25) with no RBI over his previous seven games. Thanks to his early season excellence, he still ranks 12th in MLB in OPS (.934) and is tied for third with 24 RBI.

Colin Rea SP | CHC
Cubs' Colin Rea: Unravels against Dodgers
Rea (3-1) took the loss against the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing six runs on six hits and four walks while striking out four batters over 3.1 innings.
Rea got through two scoreless frames before giving up a two-run homer to Max Muncy in the third inning. Things went even further south for the righty in the fourth -- he retired the first hitter he faced, then allowed four straight batters to reach base, all of whom eventually came around to score (two after his departure). Rea hurt himself by issuing four free passes in the loss after handing out no more than two walks in any of his first five outings. He came into Saturday on a three-game win streak and having given up no more than three earned runs across any of his first five appearances, so he'll look to return to that form in what's projected to be a home start against Arizona next week.

Roki Sasaki SP | LAD
Dodgers' Roki Sasaki: Picks up first victory of season
Sasaki (1-2) allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five batters over five-plus innings to earn the win over the Cubs on Saturday.
The outing was very much a mixed bag for Sasaki -- he impressed by throwing 20 of 23 first pitches for strikes and racking up 15 whiffs, but he also surrendered three home runs. A six-run explosion by Los Angeles in the fourth inning provided more than enough run support for Sasaki to pick up the win, but he managed to complete only five frames and was lifted after allowing the first two batters he faced in the sixth to reach base. The Dodgers have remained patient with the Japanese righty through some early season struggles, and his 6.35 ERA is troubling. Still, Sasaki has shown small gains as the season has progressed -- of note, Saturday marked the first time this season that he's issued fewer than two walks in an outing -- and he seems to have a rotation spot locked down, at least until Blake Snell (shoulder) returns from the injured list.

Angel Zerpa RP | MIL
Brewers' Angel Zerpa: Tagged with extra-inning loss
Zerpa (0-2) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the Pirates after allowing three runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk across two-thirds of an inning. He struck out one.
Zerpa entered for the 10th inning but never really found his footing, recording just two outs on 16 pitches (10 strikes). The left-hander has allowed runs in all but two of his last eight outings. Even though he's recorded two saves this year, Zerpa's 6.39 ERA and 1.74 WHIP through 12.2 innings taints any fantasy upside.

TJ Friedl CF | CIN
Reds' TJ Friedl: Tallies three hits, including homer
Friedl went 3-for-4 with a double, solo home run and an additional run against the Tigers in a 9-2 win Saturday.
Friedl capped a big offensive game by the Reds with a solo blast in the eighth inning. His three total hits tied a season-high mark, and this was the first time all season Friedl has logged multiple extra-base hits in a game. In fact, the veteran outfielder went 20 contests at the outset of the campaign without any extra-base knocks on his ledger. He seems to be turning things around since, going 7-for-19 with three doubles, Saturday's homer, four RBI and a stolen base across his past five games.

Sal Stewart 1B | CIN
Reds' Sal Stewart: Continues huge season with five RBI
Stewart went 3-for-4 with a home run, a walk and five total RBI in a 9-2 victory versus the Tigers on Saturday.
Stewart didn't wait long to make a big impact, mashing a three-run homer off Jack Flaherty in the first inning. The budding star added a two-run single in the sixth to give him five total RBI -- his second-highest mark of the season. Stewart has been one of MLB's (and fantasy's) brightest stars so far this season, slashing .303/.398/.626 through 118 plate appearances. He leads the majors with 29 RBI, is tied for fourth with nine long balls and is tied for ninth with seven stolen bases (on as many attempts) while exhibiting excellent plate discipline with a 17:21 BB:K.
