Carroll (hand) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox.

Carroll will miss out on a fifth straight start due to a bruised left hand. He had been scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, but the Diamondbacks haven't revealed the results yet. Randal Grichuk will get another start in right field Monday for the Diamondbacks in Carroll's place.

Espinal is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest against the Yankees.

For the third time over the Reds' last four games, Espinal will find himself on the bench. On the first two occasions Espinal sat, Gavin Lux started at third base, but Christian Encarnacion-Strand will occupy the hot corner Monday.

Benson is absent from the lineup for Monday's game versus the Yankees.

The left-handed-hitting Benson had been in the lineup every time the Reds faced a righty since May 10, but he'll take a seat Monday as the Yankees send right-hander Allan Winans to the bump. Gavin Lux will play left field Monday.

The Giants reinstated Verlander (personal) from the paternity list Monday.

Verlander was away from the team for the entire weekend while he observed the birth of his second child. He didn't miss a start while he was on paternity leave and will return to the mound for the Giants' series opener versus the Marlins on Tuesday.

The Giants optioned Fitzgerald to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.

Fitzgerald is slashing only .127/.197/.145 in June and had seen his playing time dip with four starts over the last seven contests. He'll head to Sacramento, where he will try to get his swing in order. The Giants will go with a combination of Brett Wisely and Christian Koss at second base until Matt Chapman (hand) returns from the injured list, at which point Casey Schmitt is likely to shift over to the keystone.

The Reds reinstated Candelario (back) from the 10-day injured list Monday and designated him for assignment.

Though Cincinnati has received underwhelming production at third base from Santiago Espinal and Christian Encarnacion-Strand of late, management apparently didn't view Candelario as a short-term solution at the position now that the 31-year-old is healthy again after he had been on the shelf since April 30 due to a lumbar spine strain. Before landing on the IL, Candelario was batting just .113 with a career-high 31.9 percent strikeout rate over 91 plate appearances, and he didn't fare much better in an extended rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville, with whom he produced a .211/.318/.333 slash line in 15 games. Now that he's been DFA'd, Candelario will be exposed to waivers, but he's unlikely to find a suitor that's willing to take on the money remaining on his three-year, $45 million deal, which runs through 2026. Candelario could choose to become a free agent once he clears waivers.

The Mets transferred Siri (tibia) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Travis Jankowski, but it doesn't alter Siri's timeline for a return since he has already been on the shelf for more than 60 days. He remains shut down from baseball activities after suffering a setback recently with his fractured left tibia.

The Mets optioned Acuna to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

The move was probably overdue, as Acuna has played sparingly over the last month with just five starts since May 24. The 23-year-old will get an opportunity to continue his development at Syracuse while playing every day.

The Mets optioned Zuber to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

He's being replaced on the roster and in the bullpen by Richard Lovelady, who signed a one-year contract with the team. Zuber was with the big club for just a couple days, allowing two runs over two innings in his lone relief appearance.

The Mets selected Jankowski's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

Jankowski netted a minor-league deal from the Mets earlier this month, and it didn't take long for him to get another opportunity at the big-league level. The 34-year-old has slashed .244/.286/.289 in 21 games between the White Sox and Rays in 2025 and will serve as a reserve outfielder for the Mets.
