Brewers' Jake Bauers: Yielding to Vaughn at first base

Bauers is not in the lineup for Monday's game in San Diego.

Bauers had a recent stretch with four straight starts at first base, but he'll yield the position to Andrew Vaughn on Monday for the fifth time across the last seven tilts. The 29-year-old Bauers did draw one start in left field during the latter stretch, but he looks to have fallen back behind Vaughn on the first-base depth chart.

  • Brewers' William Contreras: Returns to lineup Monday

Contreras (hand) will start at catcher and bat cleanup in Monday's game versus the Padres.

Contreras was held out of Sunday's lineup in St. Louis after his left hand was hit by an opposing hitter's bat during Saturday's game. He's well enough to give it a go after one day of rest as the Brewers open a series in San Diego.

  • Padres' Fernando Tatis: Dealing with illness

Tatis is not in Monday's starting lineup against the Brewers due to an illness, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Padres manager Mike Shildt relayed Monday that Tatis woke up feeling ill. Tatis will be on the bench for the series opener against Milwaukee, but he could be back in the lineup Tuesday depending on his recovery. Ryan O'Hearn will fill in at right field and bat fifth Monday.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Not expected to be activated Monday

Bogaerts (foot) now appears set for activation from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Previous reports indicated Bogaerts would return from his left foot injury Monday. However, he went through another pregame workout Monday instead, as the Padres have apparently elected to give him one more day before he's reinstated. Jose Iglesias is starting at shortstop for the Padres in Monday's game versus the Brewers.

  • Jung Hoo Lee RF | SF

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Sitting out versus righty

Lee is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Cardinals.

It's right-hander Michael McGreevy on the bump for the Cardinals, but the left-handed-hitting Lee will nonetheless begin the festivities on the bench. Drew Gilbert will slide over to center field, while Jerar Encarnacion will cover right field.

  • Padres' Ramon Laureano: Exiting starting nine

Laureano is not in the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Brewers.

It's the first day off since Aug. 11 for Laureano, who is slashing just .143/.204/.265 over his last 13 games. Bryce Johnson will draw a start in left field and bat seventh for the Padres on Monday.

  • Padres' Fernando Tatis: Getting rare day off

Tatis is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.

It's a rare day off for Tatis, who had started each of the previous 18 contests. The Padres will go with Ryan O'Hearn in right field in Monday's series opener.

  • Padres' Freddy Fermin: Sitting Monday

Fermin is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the Brewers on Monday.

Fermin will be on the bench for a second consecutive game while Elias Diaz serves behind home plate and bats ninth. Fermin has gone 13-for-41 (.317) with three doubles, seven runs, one home run and six RBI since Sept. 1.

  • Braves' Carson Ragsdale: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

Atlanta designated Ragsdale for assignment Monday.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Charlie Morton, who was signed Monday. Ragsdale was just claimed off waivers by Atlanta last week and will now go through the waivers process again.

  • Braves' Jhancarlos Lara: Optioned to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Lara to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.

Lara's contract was selected by Atlanta on Friday, but the 22-year-old right-hander didn't end up seeing any action during the three-game weekend series against Detroit. He'll return to Triple-A, where he has posted a 6.58 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 80:47 K:BB across 52 innings this season.
