Rockies' Chase Dollander: Starting Sunday's nightcap
Dollander is starting Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Mets, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports.
Dollander has been effective pitching behind an opener early this season, but he'll make his first start of the campaign to close out Sunday's doubleheader. After posting a 6.52 ERA in 21 starts as a rookie last year, the right-hander has showcased his potential across his first six outings of 2026 with a 2.88 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB over 25 innings.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Cubs' Vince Velasquez: Designated for assignment
The Cubs designated Velasquez for assignment Sunday.
The veteran right-hander was added to the big-league roster Friday but won't retain his roster spot despite firing 2.1 scoreless frames Saturday versus the Dodgers. Velasquez will now go through the waiver process, after which he could elect to become a free agent, assuming he goes unclaimed.

Cubs' Yacksel Rios: Gets call to majors
The Cubs selected Rios' contract from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.
Rios joined Chicago on a minor-league contract in January and will get a look in the majors after posting a 5.06 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 8:6 K:BB over 10.2 frames with Iowa to begin the season. The right-hander last pitched in the majors in 2023 and has a 6.23 ERA in 92 career MLB appearances.

Cubs' Charlie Barnes: Returns to majors
The Cubs recalled Barnes from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.
The left-hander was demoted nearly two weeks ago but is now back in the majors with Riley Martin (elbow) heading to the injured list. Barnes allowed three runs on four hits with one strikeout and three walks over three innings during his lone big-league appearance this year.

Diamondbacks' Jesus Valdez: Called up Sunday
The Diamondbacks selected Valdez's contract from Double-A Amarillo and appointed him the 27th man for Sunday's game against the Padres.
The two clubs get a 27th man for the Mexico City Series this weekend, which will allow Valdez to get his first taste of the big leagues. The 28-year-old had an .853 OPS in 23 games with Amarillo last year but struggled to a .634 OPS when up with Triple-A Reno.

Agustin Ramirez C | MIA
Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Out of Sunday's lineup
Ramirez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Ramirez started the previous eight games, but he'll hit the bench Sunday after posting a .206/.229/.353 slash line during that stretch. Liam Hicks will take over behind the plate while Heriberto Hernandez steps into the lineup for the series finale in San Francisco.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Getting planned off day
Muncy (illness) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.
Muncy started Saturday despite feeling under the weather and clubbed an early homer before being lifted in the fourth inning. The ailment apparently isn't responsible for Muncy's absence from the lineup Sunday, however, as he was scheduled for a day off versus Chicago lefty Shota Imanaga. Santiago Espinal is picking up a start at third base in the series finale.

Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: On bench again Sunday
Smith (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.
The veteran backstop was held out of the lineup Saturday due to back tightness and was expected to rejoin the lineup Sunday, but the Dodgers will instead give him an extra day to recover. Manager Dave Roberts said the injured list isn't currently being considered and indicated that Smith could play Sunday, if necessary. Dalton Rushing will pick up a second straight start behind the plate for the Dodgers.

Geraldo Perdomo SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Not starting Sunday
Perdomo (ankle) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.
It's not a major surprise the 26-year-old is on the bench Sunday after he suffered a left ankle sprain during Saturday's contest. However, it may be a brief absence given that manager Torey Lovullo said he doesn't expect Perdomo to require a trip to the injured list, per Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. Jose Fernandez is filling in at shortstop Sunday while Tim Tawa replaces Perdomo in the lineup.
