Bregman went 3-for-5 with a triple and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Phillies.

Bregman recorded his third three-hit game of the season and also tallied his first triple since 2024 in a productive performance Wednesday. The veteran third baseman is starting to get going after a slow start to his first campaign with the Cubs. Bregman was hitting just .188 through his first 12 games of the year, but his season average is now up to .263 after batting .333 over his last 12 contests.

Atlanta will option Fuentes to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, Barrett Sallee of 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.

Fuentes was recalled from the minors to start Wednesday's game against Washington and will now head back down after giving up four earned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven batters over three innings. The 20-year-old righty owns a 2.16 ERA at Triple-A and is viewed as Atlanta's top prospect, so he will likely receive more opportunities to showcase his talents at the major-league level later this season. JR Ritchie is slated to come up from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Atlanta will select Ritchie's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Thursday's game against the Nationals, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Considered to be one of the best pitching prospects in Atlanta's farm system, Ritchie has posted a 0.99 ERA and 1.03 WHIP alongside a 28:13 K:BB through 27.1 innings (five starts) at Gwinnett this season. He's now earned the right to make a start with Atlanta and will take on a Nationals offense that ranks second in MLB with 142 runs scored through 25 games. The 22-year-old's time in the majors is likely to be brief, as Spencer Strider (oblique) is nearing the end of his rehab assignment and could return from the injured list next week. However, an impressive outing Thursday could buy Ritchie another start in the big leagues.

Lindor was removed from Wednesday's game against the Twins with left calf tightness.

Lindor went 2-for-2 before coming out of Wednesday's game, but he appeared to tweak his calf while rounding third base and coming in to score on Francisco Alvarez's fourth-inning double. Lindor is slated to get an MRI on his calf Thursday, per Laura Albanese of Newsday, at which point more information regarding the severity of his injury and a return timeline should be revealed.

Ruiz (oblique) has completed his rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville and will meet the Marlins in San Francisco ahead of Friday's series opener against the Giants, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

Ruiz opened the season on the 10-day injured list due to a high-grade left oblique strain that he sustained in spring training. He has progressed enough in his recovery to rejoin the Marlins and could make his MLB season debut during the team's weekend road series. Miami opened up a spot for Ruiz on the 26-man roster by designating Austin Slater for assignment Wednesday, per Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida.

Slater saw sparse playing time for Miami this season and went 4-for-23 (.174) with one steal, one RBI and a 4:9 BB:K. With no minor-league options left, the Marlins have elected to let go of the 33-year-old outfielder in order to open up a spot on the roster for Esteury Ruiz (oblique), who is set to return from the injured list, per Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com. Slater will go on waivers and could garner interest from a team looking to add depth in the outfield.

Freeland (shoulder) threw 41 pitches in a simulated game Wednesday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Freeland utilized his entire arsenal and told reporters after the session that he had no issues with his shoulder. The 32-year-old southpaw is eligible to be activated off the 15-day injured list April 28, and it looks like he'll be ready to return to major-league action at that time, barring any setbacks.

Graterol's velocity during recent bullpen sessions has reached the high-90s as he rehabs from right shoulder surgery, per MLB.com.

Graterol isn't yet ready for a rehab assignment, but he seems to be inching closer to a return to game action. The righty reliever hasn't pitched at all since 2025, so he'll presumably need a lengthy rehab assignment before he's ready to be activated off the injured list. Graterol likely won't be a factor in the big-league bullpen until at least late May.

Diaz shared on his personal Instagram account Wednesday that he underwent surgery on his throwing elbow.

Diaz's surgery was a procedure to remove loose bodies from his right elbow. The star closer is projected to be sidelined through the All-Star break, at minimum. Tanner Scott, Alex Vesia and Blake Treinen are among the candidates to pick up save chances for Los Angeles for however long Diaz remains out of action.

Freeland is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Giants on Wednesday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Freeland will get a rest day after going 0-for-3 with a walk and three strikeouts in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to San Francisco. Miguel Rojas will start at second base Wednesday and bat ninth.
