Mize tossed six innings in a no-decision against Milwaukee on Monday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six batters.

Mize was hammered by Arizona for eight runs over 3.1 innings in his San Diego debut last Wednesday, but he was much better in his second start with his new club. The right-hander gave up a Christian Yelich two-run homer in the second inning, but that was the only time the Brewers were able to score against him. Mize induced just six swinging strikes, but he still managed a respectable six punchouts and recorded his ninth quality start of the campaign. He's being asked to help stabilize a shaky Padres rotation and is lined up to make his next start on the road against the Guardians.

Gilbert went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a second RBI in Monday's 6-3 extra-inning loss to the Astros.

Gilbert ended his 24-game power drought with a homer in the seventh inning. The outfielder had added just three RBI and two extra-base hits in that span. Gilbert is hitting .237 with a .683 OPS, five homers, 24 RBI, 31 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples and one stolen base over 95 contests. While he's competing for the starting job in center field, his lack of both power and speed will restrict his ability to rack up counting stats.

Lee went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-3 extra-inning loss to the Astros.

Lee started August hot, but he went just 1-for-10 over the weekend's three-game series versus the Tigers. He bounced back in this matchup with a fifth-inning homer, his third of the month and ninth of the year. The outfielder is hitting .300 with a .782 OPS, 46 RBI, 57 runs scored, 26 doubles, four triples and eight stolen bases across 109 contests. Lee's playing style is more about consistent contact rather than power or speed, though he could score more often if his turn atop the lineup Monday turns into an extended stretch in that slot.

Smith allowed a run on one hit and one walk over one inning to take a blown save in Monday's 6-3 extra-inning loss to the Astros.

Smith was tasked with protecting a one-run lead in the ninth inning and couldn't get the job done. The right-hander has received first dibs on closing duties after the Giants' trade-deadline sell-off, but he's converted just one of two chances, and he's allowed three runs over 5.1 innings in August. Overall, he has a 3.09 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 27:12 K:BB through 23.1 innings while adding two saves, six holds and two blown saves.

Tidwell allowed one run on four hits and a walk while striking out six over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Monday.

Tidwell performed well, throwing 62 of 96 pitches for strikes, but he came up an out shy of his first career quality start. He's done well with three runs allowed over 10.2 innings over his first two starts this year, and he'll likely get the chance to end the campaign in the rotation. Overall, he's at a 2.78 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB through 22.2 innings over 10 games (two starts) in the majors. He's projected for a home start versus the Rockies over the weekend.

Arenado went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a stolen base in Monday's 9-0 win over the Rockies.

Arenado set the tone early with a first-inning slam, allowing the Diamondbacks to cruise to the win. This was his fourth homer over nine games in August, and he's batting .250 (8-for-32) with eight RBI this month. The third baseman is hitting .242 with a .755 OPS, 18 homers, 58 RBI, 55 runs scored, 20 doubles and four steals over 113 contests this year, and he's trending up as Arizona remains in the thick of the playoff race.

Soroka (glute) allowed three hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.1 shutout innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Monday.

Soroka didn't pitch deep enough into this game to earn the win, but it was a promising return after he missed nearly two months due to a glute strain. The right-hander threw 47 of 77 pitches for strikes, so a bit of inefficiency likely cost him the win in a game where Arizona was never threatened. Prior to the injury, Soroka was having a resurgent season -- he's at a 2.92 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 83:20 K:BB through 86.1 innings over 16 starts. He's tentatively projected to make his next start at Atlanta, though he may still have at least a slight workload limit.

Hughes (0-4) allowed seven runs on five hits, three walks and a hit batsman while striking out three over four innings to take the loss versus the Diamondbacks on Monday.

For the second start in a row, Hughes has allowed a season high in runs. He had largely kept things competitive in July, but with 12 runs allowed over his last 9.1 innings, he's starting to falter. He has posted a 5.61 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB through 33.2 innings over seven games (six starts) in the majors this season. He's projected to set a new career high in innings across all levels if he remains in the Rockies' rotation, but the workload increase is expected to be modest overall. Hughes' next outing is projected to be in San Francisco over the weekend.

Bowlan secured the save against the Cardinals on Monday, throwing a clean ninth inning. He struck out one.

The Phillies likely didn't have Jhoan Duran available after the closer worked Saturday and Sunday, but Bowlan filled in effectively Monday with his first save in four attempts this year. Bowlan, who has turned in five consecutive scoreless outings, has been reliable out of the Philadelphia bullpen in 2026, posting a 2.74 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 53:10 K:BB with eight holds over 42.2 innings.

Dobbins (2-3) took the loss against the Phillies on Monday, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out six.

A pair of errors kept two earned runs off Dobbins' ledger in what was a solid start overall by the hurler Monday. The six punchouts matched a season high, and the right-hander has now pitched at least five innings in five consecutive appearances. Dobbins, who has given up more than three runs just one time in nine outings for the Cardinals this year, will take a quality 3.40 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 42:17 K:BB over 45 innings into his next scheduled start on the road against the Cubs.
