  • Yoniel Curet SP | PHI

Phillies' Yoniel Curet: Sent down to Double-A

The Phillies optioned Curet to Double-A Reading on Saturday.

Curet reached Triple-A for the first time last season while in the Rays organization, though he posted an unsightly 6.03 ERA and 1.93 WHIP over 31.1 innings. He was traded to Philadelphia during the offseason and will now head back to Double-A to begin his tenure with his new club.

  • Phillies' Gabriel Rincones: Optioned to Triple-A

The Phillies optioned Rincones (knee) to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Paul Casella of MLB.com reports.

Rincones spent the entire 2025 season in Triple-A, where he slashed .242/.366/.430 with 22 steals (on 27 attempts), 18 home runs and 73 RBI in 505 plate appearances. He's currently working through a left knee injury, and it's unclear whether he'll be available for the start of the regular season.

  • Jean Cabrera SP | PHI

Phillies' Jean Cabrera: Sent to Triple-A

The Phillies optioned Cabrera to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday.

Cabrera spent all of 2025 at Double-A Reading, posting a 3.81 ERA and 1.23 WHIP over 137 innings. After giving up just one earned run in 4.1 frames in the Grapefruit League, he'll officially receive a promotion to Triple-A to begin the 2026 campaign.

  • Drew Anderson RP | DET

Tigers' Drew Anderson: Effective in early going

Through three Grapefruit League appearances covering 8.1 innings, Anderson has yet to allow a run while striking out 10 batters.

Anderson logged 3.1 scoreless innings in Friday's contest against the Red Sox while striking out four. The 31-year-old righty most recently pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization, and he was able to parlay some success across two seasons as a starter into an MLB contract with the Tigers heading into 2026. Anderson figures to slot into Detroit's bullpen, potentially as a long reliever if Friday's extended usage is any indication of his role.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

    Astros' Carlos Correa: Returning Monday

Correa (neck) will resume playing in the Grapefruit League on Monday against the Cardinals, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

It's worth noting that Correa will be starting at shortstop during his return to play -- something that may become more common while Jeremy Pena sits with a fractured finger. If Pena's absence extends into the regular season, Correa would slide back over to shortstop while Isaac Paredes starts at the hot corner.

  • Matt Vierling RF | DET

Tigers' Matt Vierling: Off to strong spring start

Through six Grapefruit League games, Vierling has gone 8-for-15 with two walks, a double, a triple and a home run.

Vierling was particularly effective Friday, when he went 3-for-3 with a home run, three total runs scored and four RBI against the Red Sox. The utility player had an injury-marred 2025 campaign, but he's been healthy so far in his camp, and his early production is a promising sign. Vierling likely won't have a regular starting role when the regular season gets underway, though he should still see plenty of playing time at multiple positions for the Tigers.

  • Tigers' Justin Verlander: Uneven spring debut

Verlander allowed two runs on two hits across two innings of work in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox. He walked two and struck out four.

Verlander wasn't particularly sharp in his spring debut as he allowed four baserunners across only two innings and needed 50 pitches to cover the frames, but the four strikeouts were a nice sign. The veteran righty signed with Detroit on Feb. 10, rejoining the team with which he began his MLB career back in 2005. Verlander should slot in near the back of Detroit's stacked rotation and could have some fantasy value in the right matchups, though his days of being an ace seem long gone at this point.

  • Wilyer Abreu CF | BOS

Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: With Team Venezuela

Abreu went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Team Venezuela in Friday's 6-2 win over the Netherlands at the World Baseball Classic.

Prior to the WBC, Abreu appeared in six Grapefruit League games for Boston, going 2-for-14 with three walks. The Red Sox would like to see the lefty-hitting Abreu become an everyday right fielder, against both righties and lefties, but he had just three plate appearances against left-handers (0-for-3) during his time in Boston's camp. Abreu did have one at-bat against a lefty Friday and singled in a run during Venezuela's four-run fifth inning.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Cubs' Edward Cabrera: Using fastball more

Cabrera is using his four-seam fastball more in spring training as a complement to his changeup, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera's changeup is his signature pitch, and he throws it often. However, the Cubs are asking the righty to throw his fastball more as a contrast to his off-speed stuff and to make the changeup more effective. Cabrera is throwing the four-seamer 30% of the time so far this spring, which is up from 13% during the 2025 regular season. He has good velocity on the pitch, averaging 96.7 mph last year, so he should be able to find success with the increased usage if his command is locked in. Cabrera was a key offseason trade acquisition for Chicago after posting a 3.53 ERA and 150 strikeouts across 137.2 innings for the Marlins in 2025.

  • Red Sox's Kristian Campbell: Powers up Friday

Campbell started in center field and went 1-for-2 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Friday's spring game against Detroit.

Campbell put the Red Sox up early with a two-run shot in the first inning off Justin Verlander. It was the first homer of the Grapefruit League for Campbell, who has played exclusively in center field this spring. The 23-year-old is still figuring things out at the plate and in the outfield and doesn't have a clear path to playing time in Boston. As such, Campbell is expected to open the year at Triple-A Worcester, where plate appearances will be plentiful and the team can put the finishing touches on his transition from infield to outfield.
