    Red Sox's Alex Bregman: Resting for second straight day

    Bregman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

    Bregman will rest up for the second day in a row while the Red Sox prepare for a wild-card matchup against a yet-to-be-determined opponent. Nick Sogard will draw the start at third base in place of Bregman, who looks set to finish his 10th regular season in the majors with a .273/.360/.462 slash line, 18 home runs, one stolen base, 64 runs and 62 RBI in 114 games.

    Brujan (hip) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

    Brujan hasn't appeared in a game since Sept. 21 after leaving that contest with right hip tightness. It's unclear if the injury remains an issue or if he simply hasn't been needed on the field. Assuming he doesn't enter Sunday's contest, the 27-year-old will finish the year with a .253/.305/.310 slash line in 95 plate appearances spanning stints with Atlanta, the Orioles and the Cubs.

    Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

    Though the Red Sox are still awaiting confirmation on their opponent for the wild-card round, manager Alex Cora will dole out rest to Narvaez and Alex Bregman in the regular-season finale. Unless he's needed off the bench Sunday, Narvaez will head into the playoffs with a .241/.306/.419 slash line, 15 home runs, one stolen base, 50 RBI and 51 runs in 118 games.

    The Mariners optioned Evans to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Sunday.

    Evans threw three innings of one-run ball out of the bullpen in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Dodgers in his return from the injured list in what marked his first career relief appearance in the majors. The 24-year-old put up a 4.32 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 59:31 K:BB over 81.1 spanning 16 appearances (15 starts) as a rookie during the regular season.

    Muncy (lower body) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Seattle.

    Muncy has been tending to a minor lower-body injury recently, and he'll be absent from the starting nine for a fourth consecutive contest. The expectation remains that Muncy will be available for the start of the NL Wild Card Series on Tuesday. Enrique Hernandez will draw another start at third base Sunday.
