Herz (elbow) struck out two over two perfect innings in his rehab start Friday with Double-A Harrisburg.

Since restarting his rehab assignment earlier this month after recovering from a flexor strain, Herz has piled up five strikeouts over three scoreless frames. Before bringing Herz back from the 60-day injured list, the Nationals are likely to have him build up gradually over at least two more rehab appearances, as the left-hander previously underwent Tommy John surgery last April. Depending on how he fares in subsequent outings in the minors, Herz could have a spot in the rotation waiting for him once he's activated.

Burger went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a second RBI in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Athletics.

Burger had gone 11 games without a multi-hit effort, batting just .200 with a homer and five RBI in that span. He went deep in the second inning off Jacob Lopez to open the scoring. Burger is now batting .239 with a .725 OPS, 21 homers, 73 RBI, 52 runs scored, 18 doubles and two stolen bases over 119 contests this season as the Rangers' primary first baseman.

The Cardinals will recall Mathews from Triple-A Memphis to start the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Reds in Cincinnati, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Mathews will make his second career big-league start after he tossed five innings and allowed two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three batters in his major-league debut Aug 1. versus Toronto. The southpaw has produced a 3.27 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 120 punchouts over 99 innings in 21 starts with Memphis this season.

Bradford allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Sunday.

Bradford gave up a two-run home run to Lawrence Butler in the second inning. While the hit total against Bradford was a little high, he was able to raise his pitch count to 81 (58 strikes) as he continues to build up from a long-term elbow injury that kept him out of action in 2025. He's posted a 2.93 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB through 15.1 innings over three starts this year. He is projected to make his next start at home versus the Angels, though it's unclear who between Bradford, Kumar Rocker and Cal Quantrill will stick around in the rotation when Jack Leiter (ankle) is ready to come off the 60-day injured list.

Bolte went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.

This was Bolte's second three-hit effort in a row. All three hits were singles in Sunday's contest, but he did well to set the table atop the Athletics' lineup. The speedy outfielder is batting .267 on the year with a .711 OPS, six home runs, 25 RBI, 30 runs scored, 10 doubles and 14 stolen bases over 81 contests.

Turang (knee) is trending toward a return to the lineup Tuesday against the Mariners, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Turang missed the entirety of the Brewers' four-game series against the Dodgers while nursing left knee discomfort, but manager Pat Murphy announced after Sunday's 6-2 win that the second baseman is lined up to play in the team's series opener with Seattle. Turang has batted .245 with three doubles, eight RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base over 49 at-bats in 12 contests in August.

White went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.

White has gone 5-for-12 over his last four games. His long ball Sunday was the first of his major-league career. While White has mostly held his own in his first taste of the majors, he's likely to see only slightly more than a short-side platoon role. He's competing for time at first base with Jeff McNeil as well as being in a three-man battle at third with fellow right-handed hitters Zack Gelof and Max Muncy. Through his first 26 games, White is batting .265 with a .603 OPS, two RBI, 11 runs scored and two doubles.

Gelof went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.

Gelof has homered three times across six games since he returned from a right knee laceration. He's made three starts in left field while also seeing time at third base (twice) and second base (once) since his return. The good news is that he's hitting, which should help him maintain a near-everyday role. Gelof is batting .276 with an .832 OPS, 14 homers, 34 RBI, 48 runs scored, 12 doubles, one triple and eight stolen bases over 73 contests this season.

Butler went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.

Butler's power surge continues -- he has four homers over his last five games, though this was his first multi-hit effort in that span. The outfielder's recent success has all come at home, as have 10 of his 11 long balls throughout the campaign. He's hitting .208 with a .652 OPS, 36 RBI, 47 runs scored, 13 doubles, one triple and nine stolen bases over 116 contests, but the home-road splits are significant. Butler has a .782 OPS over 60 home games compared to a .502 OPS across 56 contests on the road.

Harris struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.

Harris looks to be pulling away with the closer job for the Athletics -- he's earned six saves since the All-Star break alone, while no one else on the team has more than four all year. It hasn't all been smooth lately, though this was his third scoreless outing in a row following a stretch in which he gave up five runs over 4.1 frames. Overall, Harris is at a 3.50 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 72:34 K:BB through 54 innings, and he has 12 saves in 17 chances and 10 holds to his name.
