  • Marlins' Christopher Morel: Taking seat Saturday

Morel isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.

Morel has slashed just .163/.212/.204 across 52 plate appearances this month, so the Marlins will keep him on the bench Saturday against tough righty Freddy Peralta. While Morel sits, Liam Hicks will work as Miami's designated hitter, putting Connor Norby at first base and Graham Pauley at third.

  • Max Scherzer SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Max Scherzer: Continues to ramp up

Scherzer (forearm) threw around 30 pitches in a bullpen session Friday at Rogers Centre, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The Blue Jays are still working through his next steps -- he could throw another bullpen session or throw live batting practice in Toronto. After he throws to live hitters, Scherzer will go on a rehab assignment, per Zwelling.

  • Joey Loperfido OF | HOU

Astros' Joey Loperfido: Set to begin rehab assignment

Loperfido (quad) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday with Double-A Corpus Christi, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Loperfido started light baseball activity May 5 and has been sidelined since April 17 with a right quadriceps strain. Fellow big leaguers Hunter Brown (shoulder), Josh Hader (biceps) and Taylor Trammell (groin) will also be playing in Sunday's game for the Hooks. Loperfido could return sometime next week.

  • Kazuma Okamoto 3B | TOR

Blue Jays' Kazuma Okamoto: Resting Saturday

Okamoto isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Okamoto will get a chance to regroup Saturday after going 0-for-16 with 10 strikeouts in his last four games. Ernie Clement will slide to third base as a result, opening up second base for Lenyn Sosa.

  • Jarred Kelenic RF | CHW

White Sox's Jarred Kelenic: Back in action

Kelenic (back) is starting in right field and batting sixth Saturday against the Giants.

He was scratched from Friday's lineup with a lower-back contusion but is back in action against righty Adrian Houser. Kelenic is hitting .179 with one home run and 15 strikeouts in his last 10 games.

  • Blue Jays' Brandon Valenzuela: Sitting down Saturday

Valenzuela isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Pittsburgh.

Valenzuela lost his four-game hitting streak Friday, but he still reached base twice on a pair of walks, scored a run and stole a base in the victory. He'll get a chance to rest his legs Saturday while Tyler Heineman starts at catcher.

  • Brandon Young SP | BAL

Orioles' Brandon Young: Saturday's start postponed

Young and the Orioles won't face the Tigers on Saturday, as the game was postponed due to rain.

The two sides will make up Saturday's contest as part of a doubleheader Sunday, and Young will draw the start in the early game, per Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com. The 27-year-old has given up three earned runs or fewer in five of his six big-league starts this season, though he made it through just 3.2 innings during his most recent outing against the Nationals.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Continuing rehab in Florida

Altuve (oblique) will head to West Palm Beach on Sunday to continue his rehab, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Altuve told McTaggart he is feeling good, and while an oblique strain typically carries a multi-week timetable, it sounds like Altuve is trending in the right direction. Braden Shewmake and Brice Matthews have been splitting starts at the keystone in Altuve's absence.

  • Framber Valdez SP | DET

Tigers' Framber Valdez: Tigers-O's rained out

Valdez and the Tigers won't face the Orioles on Saturday, as the game was postponed due to rain.

Detroit and Baltimore will play twice Sunday to make up for Saturday's contest, and Valdez will likely get the nod to start one of the two games. The 32-year-old southpaw has conceded 16 runs (13 earned) in 14.2 innings across his last three starts, but he'll have an opportunity to bounce back against an Orioles lineup that's logged a .684 OPS since the beginning of the month.

  • Mets' Jonathan Pintaro: Joins big club

Pintaro was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.

The 28-year-old righty has only recorded two outs in the majors, back in 2025, giving up two earned runs while walking two in that brief big-league debut. Pintaro boasts a 2.81 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 32:12 K:BB in 25.2 innings across 15 appearances out of the Triple-A bullpen this year.
