Whitcomb was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

The Astros needed to promote a catcher ahead of Monday's game against the Dodgers after Yainer Diaz (abdomen) was a late scratch, and Whitcomb will end up being the roster casualty. Whitcomb has struggled to a .077 average with one home run, three RBI and one run scored through 10 games this season.

Wilcox was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Wilcox put together a pair of scoreless appearances to begin May, but it wasn't enough to maintain his spot on the big-league roster. He's put together a 5.40 ERA and 2.17 WHIP with a 15:12 K:BB across 13.1 frames so far this season. Josh Simpson was recalled in a corresponding move.

Simpson was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Simpson will be called up to provide bullpen support after Gabe Speier (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list and Cole Wilcox was sent down. Simpson made 31 relief appearances with Miami a season ago, posting a 7.34 ERA and 1.83 WHIP with 36 strikeouts across 30.2 innings.

Salazar had his contract selected from Triple-A Sugar Land before Monday's game against the Dodgers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Salazar was promoted a few hours before first pitch after it was announced that Yainer Diaz was scratched with an abdominal injury. Salazar will serve as the backup catcher to Christian Vazquez on Monday.

Anthony was removed from Monday's game against the Tigers due to right wrist discomfort, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Anthony appeared to tweak his right wrist during his plate appearance in the first inning and was replaced by Masataka Yoshida in the second. Anthony will undergo more tests on his wrist to determine the severity of the injury, by which time the Red Sox should provide an update on the young outfielder's status moving forward.

Chapman is not in the Giants' starting lineup against the Padres on Monday.

Chapman has gone 0-for-16 with two walks and seven strikeouts over his last four games, so he'll take a break and begin Monday's game on the bench. Casey Schmitt will start at the hot corner and bat second in the series opener against San Diego.

Diaz (abdomen) has been scratched from Monday's lineup against the Dodgers due to a left abdominal injury, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Diaz was initially slated to bat ninth in Monday's series opener, but an abdominal injury will keep him from taking the field. He can be considered day-to-day until the team has more information to share on the severity of his injury.

Eldridge will start at designated hitter and bat seventh Monday against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

After being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento, Eldridge will immediately slide into the starting nine for the series opener, handling the DH spot while Casey Schmitt mans third base in place of a resting Matt Chapman. Eldridge produced a .963 OPS in 137 plate appearances in the minors this season, and he'll look for better results in his second stint in the majors after logging a .476 OPS in 37 plate appearances with the Giants late in the 2025 campaign.

Bader (hamstring) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Bader has been working through a left hamstring strain that caused him to be placed on the Giants' 10-day injured list in mid-April. He has progressed enough in his recovery to embark on a rehab assignment, and how his hamstring reacts to a more intense workload will dictate when he'll be cleared to return to the majors.

Campusano is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.

Campusano was seeing more playing time toward the tail end of April, but he will take a seat for a second consecutive game while Freddy Fermin serves behind home plate and bats eighth. Campusano is slashing .300/.352/.620 with three home runs and 10 RBI across 54 plate appearances this season.
